This, too, was my earliest memory, as was standing in the River End.

Even the toilets were open air! <yikes>

So I am the only "Johnny come lately" then?

Got to start somewhere I guess. Incidentally I am taking my son who is 5 to Villa tomorrow. He only comes for the sweets and crisps at the moment!

He came home from school after football club and said that his friend supports Man U and he likes them too! I had to go and sit in the shed for a minute and errr gather my thoughts.

Answers on a postcard......................maybe adoption?!! Ha!

Could you tell a nursery rhyme and change the one to die is a Man Utd fan?

Erm I think my dad would have put me up for adoption if I had have supported anyone else. However my first game was at home against Crystal Palace Nov 1995 1-0 no idea who scored for us!

you're right - i was too young to take it in. i remember the winning goal but most of my memories are of london the previous day, seeing big ben for the first time! the only reason i went was because my friends parents split up about a month before and his dad moved down to dagenham for a short while but while he was down there he invited my friend along to watch the game and he wanted me to come too. as you can imagine my parents weren't greatly enthused by the idea of the old den (my dad was there in 1978 when ipswich beat them in the cup and a full blown riot ensued) but my parents talked and we all headed to london (we had relatives in hammersmith so we made a weekend of it). my dad came with us to the game and to be fair he said it was fine on the day - he also still maintains its one of the most exciting games he's ever seen.
