No mystery JK bor, April 7th 1947 (I was 15, war just ended). Norwich City 3 Port Vale 0. In those days there were turnabout matches with the opposition at Easter. We drew with Vale three days earlier. With my 66 years and my late father's support must add up to over 100 years for our family. The programes before the war were 2d. A couple of years ago we had a regular contributor who was 91, not seen anything for some time now though, which doesn't bode well!
Norwich 1 - Barnsley 1 1985. A glory hunter as I had become interested during the milk cup run to Wembley the previous season. "I'll take you to Wembley the next time Norwich get there son." I'm still waiting, Dad
1971-72 can't remember exact match was only 9 but we won the 2nd Division Title (Championship for younger posters), and were promoted to the top flight for the first time happy days. Up until 1995 we had only spent 3 years outside of the top division bouncing back from relegation each time, basically we were an established top flight team for over 20 years and that is why to this day I maintain that we are currently playing our football in our rightful place. I know that in all probability we will drop down to the Championship again one day, but I really hope we don't the Premier League is THE place to be and we must do our utmost to survive year on year at whatever cost IMO
JK bor, thanks for the compliment, unfortunately I think grand daddy would be more appropriate. Like Kick it off, I remember the 1972 season very well. Millwall made the earlier running and looked to have secured their place in Division One with us and Birmingham pushing them hard. The Lions faltered at the close and we took the honours with Brum second. Been a lot expressed regarding CH lately. Our task is a simple one. To maintain our current status and then slowly build on the foundations established to date. Just like in the old days when we had to survive after the war and slowly climb the football ladder. No manager is without criticism, goes with the territory. But it is far too early in the season to be questioning his judgment. CH set out against Spurs with two in the strike force, so it cannot be said he adopted a cautious approach. Cast you mind back to when PL played Man City away in his first season in the Premier. He settled for a defensive strategy but when City scored had to change tactics, the consequence of which we took a hiding. Most managers adopt a defensive line-up because the pressure of staying in the PL. I for one have no inhibitions of winning ugly if that is what it takes to maintain our presence in the PL.
I can't remember the first game I went to but I got my first season ticket in the 03/04 season. My clearest memory was beating Walsall 5-0 at home and it was the season we went up so certainly not a bad place to start! Had a season ticket ever since.

23 October 1985 Norwich City 1–0 Everton in the Super Cup on a Wednesday evening! I had been following Norwich for a couple of years previous but this was the first chance I had to go to an actual game. The following year after we got promoted again I persuaded mum to get a season ticket for her and I and we went for several years until other interests took over but I have always managed to go to games on and off most seasons until I decided to get myself a season ticket at the start of our League 1 campaign... talk about good timing! I always remember pleading to go to the Milk Cup Final but had to watch it on TV instead. I remember my sister who was 22 at the time going to the toilet for a wee near the end of half-time and missing our goal as we scored right after half-time. I had listened to the semi-final game against Ipswich on the way back from swimming and can picture the joy now when Bruce's name rang out on the commentary that he had powered in that header. Happy times.
I can remember watching that game on TV - a real family experience as we had aunts and uncles around and were all watching the game avidly. Great game too. 2-0 up very early on pegged back to 2-2 then Fleck hitting that sublime winner in the last minute - although it was more of a scissor kick than an overhead, and if I remember rightly it came more off his shin than his boot but who the heck cared! Back then a trip to the Den was a dangerous mission but I am guessing the experience passed you by at such a young age Supers!
For me it was 1967, just like oldcanariesfan! I was just coming up to 10. First game: City 4 Palace 3 Tommy Bryceland Hat-trick (he could play) Second: City 4 Brum 2 Hooked from then on, and expecting regular goalfests, until QPR spoiled the third game: 0-0 All in a sardine-packed River End!
