Nowadays I tend to go for East European desserts and cakes -being married 20 odd years to a Slovak she has changed my taste buds - away from our traditional stodgy and sticky puds. Coming up to christmas she'll be baking 'vianocka' (xmas cakes with poppy seeds, fruit, cocoa etc) I tend eat them and wash them down with Becherovka - (herbal liqueur think Jagermeister but tastier IMO) please log in to view this image
Paradiddles, I know its not quite Slovakian, but have you ever had Unicum (grow up, before anyone says anything )? Awful awful stuff.
I went to Budapest recently. I highly eccomend it btw. They had those little round bottles everywhere. Finally tried it, how anyone can drink that is beyond me. Might be nice to clear the palate after a mouthful of spotted dick.
shame you cannot buy Becherovka in the UK would have thought the local Polish Shops would stock it as I could do with a bottle
I'm now in search, will report back forthwith sir, i like tyksie mind, get a bottle with my cans as a treat on a weekend
if you like Tyskie you should try Šariš or Zlatý Bažant - its Slovak beer it taste great you can buy it in the Polish shops
Only one pudding for me & that's Yorkshire. Either those little wee ones or a large one with a Fray Bentos steak & ale pie on top, .
