There are various ways to measure to success but a couple of years ago Talksport (so maybe not to be taken that seriously) did a ranking of the most successful clubs in England based on points gained in the top division. That put us 10th and Everton 3rd. You could probably rearrange it based on other criteria but its probably a good rough guide.

I dont need to look at the link mate. Anyone who dismisses everton as not being a big club either has an agenda against them or is a loon.

Also depends how far you want to go back. Even given our recent history i still think we are easily as big as Everton. We also have a fantastic history and not many have too much better tbh. Obviously Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Everton, Spurs and Villa have great history too. We lack european history admittedly but off the top of my head i'm sure we have finished top 3 no less than 19 times. Meaning even tho we have only won it 6 times we have been there or there abouts on many other occasions. Spurs, Man city and Chelsea are all bigger clubs than Sundland now but i wouldn't swap our domestic history for any of theirs.
And baring in mind how crap we have been mainly from the 80s onwards our attendances are something to be proud of.
The mags are similar to us but at least they had the entertainers era and high profile names to keep their chins up. We've had nowt.

But Everton are one of the few clubs who do have more history than us, and more recently.

Everton are one of the big clubs without question. Always have been.

Just for the record I remember them going down from the old first division in the '50s. But in their day they were the dominant club in Liverpool and when they bounced back their opening game was against PNE and over 70,000 were packed into Goodison..

Only remember their relegation as it left us the only club never to be relegated until 1958.
