I just see the comments pop up on Twitter - I just find it incredible how ex professionals can be so clueless.
What annoys me far more is a commentator being biased. Its why I watch it in Russian when watching a online feed.
doesn't both scenarios allow you to mute the ****er unless you are learning russian? then as you were
I don't like muting it, I like to be able to hear the atmosphere. Watching it in silence is worse than watching a game being played behind closed doors
The trouble is that many people still regard "official" comments as more authoritative than stuff on a forum, and the mainstream media can easily whip up a controversy where none exists. The fact that many ex-players frequently demonstrate that they know little more about the game than the fans doesn't seem to register. The point under discussion is a good example, the pundits are outraged on our behalf at some of the big names being dropped, when most of us thought it was a good move. So non-LFC fans are more likely to believe the "official" version of what we think over our own.
I realise people get sucked in but more fool them for believing everything they read rather than using their own mind. Of course, there can be a knock on effect of people believing the pundits such as hostility towards the manager.
I don't know why you are lot are getting so flustered about the media concentrating on Liverpool rather than Man City or Chelsea. Man United and Liverpool are 2 of the biggest clubs in the world and THE 2 biggest in UK football. So with Man U not being in europe......in a european week.....then they will be focusing on Liverpool. Man City and Chelsea may well be more successful at the moment but the global appeal of Liverpool and Man U means much more clicks on websites, views on telly and reads of newspapers than any City or Chelsea story. Just be happy that they are still so focused on Liverpool. The brand is still up there.
This. I would add it sets the tone for the spin on the game by the media and other fans for the rest of the week. How many times will we watch a match at the weekend on SS and any sniff of controversy will be pulled apart by the post-match SS pundits (and then MOTD bcos they don't want to fall behind SS winning formula) and you know that will be headlines instead of the game itself or the performance. As for commentators ITV are the most bias arseholes on CL matches. Clive Tydesley and Andy Townsend are cringeworthy.
Proof that Ex footballers know **** all about their own sport http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29945991 Granted Savage is a loud mouth who achieved very little in football, except to play and kick the **** out of other players so always take his opinion with a pinch of salt. Go down to the team Savage picks. Johnson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FFS Seriously what are these pundits watching when Glen Johnson is playing? Defensive stability with Glen Johnson WTF! When are these pundits going to get over Johnson and Gerrard being automatic starters for Liverpool.
