JWM - if we are relegated at the end of the season, so be it, but we will still have played in a higher league than you, that is something that you seem to have trouble with accepting
Oh dear beware delusions of grandeur. This lad thinks that Norwich will be able to sustain the last couple of seasons' success over a period of time. What a disappointment you're in for. Norwich have no money. They need to be in the Prem for two seasons to break even. Yes Lambert's a good manager, but even if he stays, which is unlikely, Norwich will either not be able to compete in the transfer market or they'll start gambling with the finances to stay up there.
you mean like stoke yorkie? or bolton? or wigan? think back to o'neill's leicester... did exactly what lambert is doing - young, lower league players. he won two cups and finished top half every season he was in charge. honestly, some of you lot are showing signs of desperation that we will go down! you'll all be in turmoil if we stay up!! our task is simple. finish 17th or higher. it is not some impossible dream, it can be achieved with good players (tick) and good management (big tick). under burley, ipswich didn't have too many problems staying up first season with a young team full of lower league players did they! it was when they spent on expensive, luxury signings (and andy marshall) that things went wrong. and our manager will not leave very soon. he shows no sign whatsoever of wanting to leave, and unless its a massive club who come in for him, he'll stay, and if its a massive club, we can all accept that anyway.
My take on the situation is that its a sad state of affairs when a newly promoted side basically builds a side looking more at getting back promoted in two seasons time rather than looking at survival in a higher league. I pity you budgie fans because of your clubs money motivated reasoning, rather than trying to give the fans the glory of more than one season in the top flight! This is indictative of a small club mentality. Superman, you talk about our club no paying our way in the past, well i can tell you that we as a club has given a hell of a lot more to these organisations than we owed them. I would be more worried by a club that would rather short change its own fans by not giving what should be a wonderful oppotunity by basically writing off this season with unproven players who if you get lucky that 1 might cope with the premier league.
Right because those clubs are going great guns, and they still have their managers - how long did O'Neill's Leicester last exactly before he moved onto bigger and better things? If your aim is to emulate Wigan then that says an awful lot really doesn't it? And look at the players in their side, nearly all quality names, no League One players there! And as for Burley's team - did we sustain it? Nope. You are basically backing up my argument! It may last a few more seasons with Lambert but it won't last long enough for it to matter whether you have a young squad or an aging squad - and the reason is that the financial foundations aren't there to sustain it. Even with two seasons in the top flight the club is still scrabbling around for change.
guru, that is one of the worst posts i've ever read. how exactly am i being short changed as a city fan? the only ones being short changed around here are you guys! you have a billionaire chairman who doesn't spend money on players but is more than willing to charge large sums of money for you lot to watch dross week in, week out. meanwhile, i have witnessed two fabulous seasons of entertainment at a much more reasonable price and now look forward to watching them compete in the top flight. we have not built a team to be relegated. we have built a team that will get stronger. a team that will, in the worst case scenario, be the strongest at the level below. a team where the majority of players will have re-sale value far greater than we paid for them. that isn't aiming low, that is fantastic business and management sense! i don't expect you to know anything about league one but it is an eye-opener. there are some very talented players in that league - we just signed the two most outstanding. pace, flair, strength, agility... all things you need in the top flight. just cos they hadn't played there before means nothing - they are both much better players than the likes of kieron dyer and danny gabbidon - the dross which qpr are being lumbered with. if you genuinely pity us then you have a problem. i laugh at your club at the moment. not only did we thump you twice last season but we made you all look foolish. just prior to both games it was all about how we were either lucky or had not played anyone any good and that we didn't have as good a players as you. well, i think we put that one to bed!! not one player, and i really do mean one, would get into our team. thats how bad you are. none of your players could get into a team that was in league one the year before. and how much money have you spent since we went down??? what my club is showing is a canny ability to build a team who want to play for the badge, for the fans and for the manager. its been a long, long while since i've been able to say that! i bet you can't say the same about your own players. they've all bought into the same spirit and togetherness that are going to keep us up, fairly comfortably in my opinion. as for yorkie's comments, leicester spent 6 seasons in a row in the top flight - i'd settle for that! wigan have survived 8 years in the top flight - i'd settle for that! no, your team didn't sustain it for the reason i mentioned in my post. as soon as you threw money at it it went wrong!! we are learning from your clubs mistakes - maybe your club would be better if it learnt from its mistakes... the only person backing up anyones argument is myself - if it last a few seasons, thats the whole point! we are not arsenal or manchester united - times have changed. if we stay up for 5 years we will have done well compared to most clubs. we have to make sure we have a club to support in 20, 50, 100 years time. to do that we need to clear our debt and become self-suffiecient. what will your club do when the bubble bursts (cos it will)? i expect it will destroy hundreds of local businesses again. i am so relived my club never did that - we still have respect in our local community. its time some of you got a reality check - your club are light years behind mine.
What makes me laugh is that if and when lambert does go all the binners and electronically tagged colu kings will run around us point and laugh and go "ahh! You've all been mugged off. Lamberts gone now and all you've got is entertaining football, the best board in years, premier league status and millions of pounds safeguarding financial security!! You ****ing losers!!..... Wait a minute" By the time lambert leave to go to manU or Whatever Norwich will be an established premier league club. Ipswich will be in league one AT BEST. and Colchester won't exist anymore.
thing is beefy, they are scared, genuinely scared, because they can see what is happening at city and then look back at their own club and want everything that we currently have. they are so far behind us at the moment it is frightening. i'd be worried too if i was in their position...
Scared of what superman, scared of a team that is so resigned to relegation their plan A is to build for the following season! We are in a rebuilding process, the thing about that is we are good enough and big enough to do this without dropping down to league 1, any other club would have dropped like a stone if they had been through the things we have. You on the other hand are buying players who in all fairness has had one (perhaps 2) reasonable seasons in a lower leagues! even the most hardcore budgie will agree that these type of players aren't good enough to keep you up. You have got vaughen from everton who has spent most of his time injured and when he did play in prem wasn't good enough. you have morrison, who when playing against england couldn't control even the most simple ball. you have league 1 players being asked to step up to premiership football. IT AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN! it takes a long time to build the feelgood factor that you lot have, but it will take less time to lose it when defeat after defeat start happening.
Okay Superman, you're talking nonsense, little point trying to debate with someone who doesn't make any sense. And if five years in the top flight is the extent of your ambition then I pity you.
guru, it is blatantly obvious that your are scared we will stay up. we proved you wrong last season and it'll happen again. once again i find myself repeating myself to get through to you. we are NOT building a team that is resigned to relegation. we are building a team to keep us up BUT that, in the case of relegation, will get us straight back up again. maybe you don't understand the logic behind that but thats not my fault. if you can find any 'budgies' that believe these players AREN'T good enough, by all means, let me know who they are. i know carrabuh is wary but he is the only one i've spoken to who feels that way. so once again you are wrong. you show a distinct lack of knowledge guru. you say james vaughan wasn't good enough for the premier league. is that why the everton fans were all disappointed he left? its ONLY injuries that have stopped him becoming their number one striker according to them. a change of scenery often helps when it comes to things like this. you then show even more lack of nous when it comes to morison. you are basing your judgement on a match where he barely touched the ball. he was by a considerable amount the best striker we played against last season and is there to give competition to holt and give us a battering ram should we need one. you have to look at the whole picture, not just individuals. how do they compliment each other? how will they fit in with a group? you don't seem to recognise any of this. anyway, you will be eating another slice of humble pie in 9 months time. one things for sure, we have far more chance of finishing 17th than you do of 6th next season!
yorkie, just cos your club is an utter shambles and is run so horrifically that i roll around on the floor laughing, doesn't mean you have to pretend that i'm not right... hows the JET signing coming along? you do know he is awful don't you? please tell me you're not signing him cos he scored a great goal in the reserves???
I think it's pretty obvious the Ipswich fans are in the "Let's buy a load of premier league has Beene" club Or the "QPR camp" as it's known I'm amazed they aren't all calling for emile heskey at Portman road...
