exterblu, your version of events is complete fabrication. it is a complete myth that she wanted to invest in a football team - ever! her husband was a loyal norwich fan and that is how she got hooked on football. it was never about investment and which club would be best. she only invested in us because we were about to go under and she didn't want that to happen - she had an affinity to us because of her husband and had become a fan. because she lives in suffolk, people put two and two together and got bollocks galore... guru, if we lose to wigan i won't exactly be concerned - we lost 7-1 opening day two years ago and won the league and last season we lost to 'doomed' watford, as you lot called them, and still got promotion so it will hardly be the end of the world.
I love it when the binners keep saying they are looking forward to us getting thrashed every weekend!!! Have they seen what the top Championship teams have been doing in the transfer market compared to them and their purchases. Looks like they will be up against it. The best they can hope for even at this stage is a mid table finish Even if we do get turned over week in , week out (which I personally don't think we will) it will be in the best league in the world. Can't wait for the season to start , so we can shut some of these twats up.
lets just say that we have a better chance of staying up next year than they do of promotion! it does look like they might be getting a half decent keeper on loan but he has a 24-hr recall clause... i think we can see where that is going! emmanuel-thomas? he's awful!! be better off with gladys emmanuel... chopra has only hit double figures twice, yes twice, in his career at championship level. not replaced norris, mcauley or bullard, their three best players... and finally, nathan ellington!! i can't stop laughing at that one!!!!
why yorkie? its the truth! she didn't WANT to invest in us and lose all her money. she bought the club to save it. i have immense respect for the woman
Exeterblu is kinda correct but not 100% correct. Delia did indeed want to invest in either Ipswich or Norwich but Ipswich was her preferred choice. She arranged a meeting with the Cobbolds but her offer of investment was turned down because during the meeting she had drunk all the wine leaving none for anybody else, this did not impress the Cobbolds one bit and they told her that they did not want a lush on the board of ITFC and that she was the dregs of the earth that belonged in the sewer!! She was a broken woman after this and decided to follow what the Cobbolds had told her, she realised that she was a lush and she did belong in the sewer, this only left one option and she headed off for Carrow Road!!! That is the true story and dont you let Supergrunthog or anyone else tell you differently!!
Just think, without Delia's investment we almost certainly wouldn't have been able to pay our bills. We may then have had to resort to shafting local businesses that had invested in us in good faith, in a desperate attempt to save our own necks. In fact it could have been even worse, there could have been the threat of doing the same to the St. John ambulance! Now that's something we'd never be able to live down. Good old Delia!
not such a nice 'story' exile. thankfully, no football club, no matter how desperate, would ever resort to that kind of scummy action... oh
You have to admire the Norwich supporters stoicism! A League 1 team aiming for Premiership Survival. Not one player that has had Premiership experience Well good luck guys I just hope your Goalie doesn't get a back injury from picking the ball out of the net so often!
Thing is JWM, that post could be straight off old 606 from this time last year. All you need do is replace 'Premiership' with 'Championship'. Anyone remember the 'Deluded budgies part 1, 2, 3, etc threads? How'd they turn out for you?
to be fair, we haven't played anybody good in the championship yet have we. once we begin playing the same teams 1p5wich have, then we will be found out... as for this nonsense warky has spouted about premier league experience. may i ask how many of your own players had premiership experience when you went up in 2000? are you seriously suggesting we should be buying the likes of carlton cole on £60k a week rather than elliott bennett? if that is what you are suggesting, you know very little about football
premiership experience is a phrase which is dished out by people who know very little about the game these days. its an easy phrase - it rolls of the tongue, but what does it mean? it means jack **** is what it means! if a player is good enough it is irrelevant as to whether they have played at the top level. how do these players get experience if nobody buys them and gives them the chance! would you sign marlon harewood ahead of steve morison because he has played at the top level? if you would, you should give up on life...
The step from Championship to Premiership is enormous and I think that deep down you know I am right! Norwich, Swansea and QPR will all come straight back down.
