So you're dropping the club captain and last season's best player, a £13m midfield two and leaving no strikers on the bench? My God, why haven't we thought of this before?!

too right i'd play chester and dawson in a central two..

i wouldn't play livermore or huddlestone... get ben arfa and ramirez in there ( our two most talented players) along with brady.. we've won two in 11 ffs.. take a risk.. we lost to burnley.. who'd not won all season.. but thats the problem with bruce
he doesn't change anything.. we won't go down cause we spent a f**ing fortune once again.. but we won't get any advancement.. i dont care what division we play in.. but i want us to make an effort whichever we do play in..

i don't give a damn what you think

i've supported this team since i can remember.. and since on this forum we regularly have to prove our support.. i ain't been to game since the west ham home game..

bruce f**ed up the europe games and i ain't recovered.. i HONESTLY think we need a new manager.. but since we were in dire f**ing s**t more than a decade ago.. we can't criticize and should feel lucky

ofcourse we should... i will be here whatever division.. but if we are in this division.. we should change manager.. i've never been a big fan of bruce.. but THIS is my opinion.. you noticed i not posted for ages? and yeah.. quill will mention my absurd drunken posts.. through work i was in warsaw on thursday and got to go the game in the group lokeren are in.. i dunno.. i just dont have the feeling for the football anymore

i was at the mtv ema awards in glasgow last night, i got tickets for the scotland v england game... seriously.. if roberston plays in that game... like i love this club

see i f**ing love this club... i was in glasgow last night.. all i do is advertise this club.. i just don't feel the love anymore

blampey was one of the best posters on here.. and so was happy..

but im sick of all this ctwd.. happy is a **** who likes attention.. but he's one of the best posters i've seen on here...

im sick off all this ctwd ****

i support it but, like i've been on this forum since pretty much the start.. feb 2011.. and im known as a total ****.. banned from sunderland board

    so whats my opinion?

It was only a matter of time before he picked a fight with himself, I guess...

Only a matter of time? He argues with himself regularly, Tuckin.

Not totally, Ken Dodd and David Moyes were involved. <whistle>:D

Of course it is down to the players that started. In hindsight this was the perfect game for messrs. Meyler - Quinn - Rosenoir and Robertson to have all started.

Yep it is very true John. Not just Burnsy who mentioned this either. Shame that SB did not get wind of it prior to KO.

In the words of the late great Brian Clough ""If your cold then get those bloody legs moving"".

Looks good on paper. But i would keep Livermore in and take out Hernandez and play Diame further up.

Curtis Davies could well be missing for the Spurs game due to his back injury. Let us hope that Dawson is fit though.

The problem we have is 442, the players can't seem to defend as they seem to have been set up to play 5 at the back in training & not used to 4, however 532 seems to mean that the midfield gets confused what they're doing, for whatever reason, the whole Diame & Huddlestone situation seems to confuse everyone including both players. Hudds needs to be the one pinging passes in the attacking area & Diame wants to be there too getting something, Livermore doesn't seem to be able to play like last season due to wanting to get forward in that box to box role, which leaves Hudds defending & as much as we all rate Hudds, his pace is not for defending, the PL is all about pace. So should Livermore be told to act as the holding midfielder? Could he cope with it & let the other 2 play further forward. I still think Diame could be that defensive player, but he likes getting forward too much. I think 532 does work for us, but it has to be the right player from the Middle holding back.

Bit confused there, Tickles. Moyes and Dodd - whoooosh!

But on your serious point, are you blaming the players that started, or the lack of foresight of the manager in not seeing this was not the perfect game for them and that he had totally overlooked the players it was (IYO) the perfect game for?

The club captain could be injured. If not, replace him with Dawson. Huddlestone and Livermore need a kick up the backside and if that is dropping them, so be it!. You can't pick players based on their price tags or reputation. If they're out of form, they don't play - simple.

Play livermore or huddlestone but not both!...behind diame and ben arfa!

    id go:

    Harper

    Rosie Dawson Davies Robertson

    ---- Huddlestone/Livermore

    Ben Arfa--------------------Diame

    ------------Ramirez/Aluko

    -------Jela/Sagbo-----Hernandez

Maybe swap aluko/Ramirez for Diame. We have a wealth of attacking threat, but Bruce is making them take it in turns up front!...im getting sick of us losing the ball in midfield then tracking back all the time! lets push the opposition back, we have the talent now!....if I see the same old 3-5-2 with Livermore and huddlestone passing from the spot, I will be calling for Bruce to go!.....you may say he knows more than me, and ill agree if thos team doesn't win more than 1 in 10

No, if they're the strongest option you have, then you play them. On that basis, if Messi is having an off month for Barcelona, they should drop him? No, they'd keep playing him, because they know what he's capable of despite his current form. Same with Thudd. We know what he can do, we've seen it this season and last. If he was to perform at the top of his game week in week out he wouldn't have left Spurs for us; every play goes through a bad patch. And his bad patch isn't even bad, it's just mediocre. It's not like his talent just leaves him for good.

A kick up the backside doesn't come from simply dropping the player. If anything, that could damage confidence even more. There's no competition for their places at present, which is something I think we will address in January, but in the mean time, Brucey will be sorting it out.

The problem isn't Huddlestone or his form TBH, if your going to play him as a holding midfielder, just do it, play him in a holding position, he would be happt there, he's currently alongside livemore and having 2 players who dont come forward is a problem! ...i.think Livermores form has bern poor, he sits back and imitates huddlestone, although his passing this year has been a joke!

Out of all of our central midfielders, Livermore actually has the highest pass success rate.

    Greggs
    Chesters - Dawson - Davies
    Elmo - Livermore - Huddlestone - Diame - Robertson
    Jelavic - Hernandez

If Jelavic isn't available get Ben Arfur and Ramirez just behind

The game stats show that Livermores work rate has been phenomenal as he covers over 12 miles a game...more than any other player on our team or the opposition...so he doesn't just "sit bacK' as he does make runs forward in support. But his shooting has been poor compared to last season when he kept rattling the woodwork. Also his pass completion stats are good but mainly of the short sidewards variety rather than the through balls we need.

Livermore is a very handy player, another who just needs the shackles letting off him.

Livermore for me has to start.
    He's like Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)
I think it has to be him or Huddlestone, and for me it has to be Livermore.
We have enough quality now to rotate, try new things and put fear into players like Tommy H so that he plays for the shirt, rather than walks into the shirt
