Ashley: Right mucker, I'm sending you on a scouting mission, go find some young players in Africa and by the way I'm gonna say you're fired to the media to appease these muppets. Joe: Ok boss, go find some youngsters in Antarctica. Ashley: No, Joe, Africa...where Drogba's from, players like Drogba, do you need to write it down? Joe: No, no, I've got it in my head, I'll just keep saying it, "Youngsters in Africa". .... .... .... Joe: African Youngsters, African Youngsters, Af... Special Brew 4 for £4, I'll be having some of that for the train, 8 of them please love. .... .... .... Joe: African ****ing Jumpsuits, ****ing ****, oh here love, you ****ing ****, what's that fing again, you ****? .... .... .... Joe: Two ****ing economy tickets to Antarctica love, you ****, ****ing urry up, you orrible ****. Woman: Sir we don't sell flight tickets here, we sell coffee and that's not real money you've just pulled out of your wallet, in fact, it's kebab meat. Joe: Don't you facking lie to me you ****, I, I ****ing yesssss what kebab? ****ing keeeebaaaaaab, He used to play for me, ****ing ****, I'll ****ing show him to play, I was world player of the year before you was ****ing born, you ****ing ****, Kebab, ten ****ing times.
Terry, that's my post of the close season so far .......... I'll be voting for it in the 'best close season post 2014 poll' Really made me laugh, great start to the day.
Shame he's vanished, the game needs characters like him ........... just as long as they come nowhere near Sunderland!
He'll be on his way to Qatar mate, with a list of local Kebab shops and a few targets he's identified for Ashley... Tom Krool, Matthew Debauchery and Master Sudoko. Hoping to get his job back when he unearths some Dutch and French gems.
How we all laughed when he vanished ........ then Newcastle couldn't win a game I wonder if any other club, with that support, would be keeping their manager after that season, something not right going on at that club. I've never seen the Mags this quiet, not even when they were relegated the other year. But they still keep trudging along don't they, fair play
I've got a mate who supports them, couple actually, but one in particular called it exactly as it was. He said the fans will protest towards the end of the season, Ashley will respond by releasing a few lies into the media about how much money the toon are gonna spend and the public will spend all summer excited about who they'll buy. I've said it a few times, they spend months calling him a fat cockney bastard and then expect him to spend big money on players in the summer so they can 'challenge'. Why does he care about the challenge when they treat him like ****? He's happy with survival every year. Why would he leave if it's a cash cow? He has no loyalties to people who call him a fat **** every week. If they want him out they need to take drastic action, not a walk out 21 mins before the end of ONE single game, they all said they'd not buy the Wonga tops then you watch their games and every fan has got the full kit on! I admire their fans for supporting the players but surely there comes a time where you think, enough is enough if you care that much?
Don`t agree Smug. Ashley wanted a top ten finish and that`s exactly what he got. He has no interest in winning anything. He`s taking £millions out of the club (£50m was it last year?). I would suggest that, as far as Ashley`s concerned, things are exactly right.
He's got them right where he wants them hasn't he pal? He's getting his cash and they're staying loyal in exchange for him chucking them a few scraps every now and then.
In that case you do agree with me Ashley owns the club lock, stock & 2 smoking telephone boxes and it's just a laugh for him, and us, and an income source. Sadly that's also what's wrong with NUFC and football in general. 99% of me laughs at their plight but 1% of me knows that it's a terrible situation when one man can destroy the hopes & dreams of thousands. I rarely think about the financial structure at Sunderland, what Short is up to and whether the players care or not. I go to the games for the history, the crack and the decent people I meet. The game is ****ed and we all know it. The best English clubs are owned by a gaggle of faceless foreigners who don't give a **** about history or the supporters. At least the Mags have an English owner, small consolation I suppose but that's all they have. I laugh because 2015 will be the 60th anniversary of the last time Newcastle people celebrated at Wembley. But, in reality, it's a disgrace that a fine old NE club has been reduced to being the toy for a bored charmless Cockney fatman. They know that which is why they keep spitting their dummy out and smashing the town up. It's not because they've been battered again by their rivals, it's because they know the owner is openly taking the piss out of them. When we do the same that just pushes them over the edge. At least me and you had the good days mate, when you could really believe the players & supporters were much the same and we were all in it together. I regularly see people I've nodded to for decades and you can see in their eyes that they know the game's ****ed.
Smug, do you not agree though that if they had him onside he'd be more inclined to fall in love the city/team/club/fans and invest and he'd personally want to challenge for the glory of silverware? They qualified for Europe in 5th and didn't kick on which was a shocker, with that platform, but that was Pardew's fault and not Ashley's fault. Pardew tried all he could to facilitate Ba at the expense of a club that was playing amazing football, the likes of Cisse and Ben Arfa sacrificed in favour of a player who made it perfectly clear he was going at the first sniff of a bigger club, for £7m. I think if their fans backed Ashley, who has admitted he'll make mistakes along the way, then they'd be laughing. He's one of the lads for **** sake, he'd be loving it, but they choose to jump on that Bald ****'s bandwagon and slate him to high heaven. He's absolutely minted, he's got everything to make them a powerhouse in football if he wants to but they're giving him absolutely no reason to.
That all makes perfect sense but you're talking about a bunch of supporters who've been weirdly conditioned to think/behave in a certain way. They were caught up in a whirlwind of bullshit and carried along on a sniff of great success. John Hall was a genius Pied Piper who swept up a generation of NE kids with promises of a Geordie Nation, titles & trophies, Messiahs & Kings. That ingrained a ridiculous arrogance and outlandish expectations which lives in their brains to this day. They're too brainwashed to behave any other so can't see the truth any more. As you say, if they approached Ashley, and the situation, like grown men he might be more inclined to enter into rational and productive discussion. Instead the TOOOOOON Army issue death threats, parade Cockney Mafia banners around the ground, jump around like demented imbeciles for every Sky camera, have mock funerals and walk-outs .......... all ****ing pathetic and self destructive. How do they believe, for a second, that threatening the owner with death and smashing the town up will attract a new owner It's ironic but the Geordie Nation has ended up with just the mirror image owner they deserve but paradoxically they hate him ..... ..... he's one of them, in reality, a big-mouthed arrogant pisshead who thinks guzzling lager and blobbing out an obscene gut is charming and hilarious. The only difference is that there's only one laughing and he gets the last laugh every single time.
It would appear that they're at the mercy of Ashley then, if I was in a lion's den with a particularly aggressive lion, the last thing I'd do is start provoking it. It is a weird concept really when you think about it, fans with nothing other than emotional and recreational investment, attempting to dictate what happens from top to bottom of an entity that they own no part of, in most cases where the club is owned privately. It's very weird, how the sport has evolved this way, it's ****, like you say it's ruined and won't go back to being an innocent pastime to waste a few hours of a Saturday afternoon, this very forum proves it consumes people much more nowadays, and that's where the control is lost. You couldn't stand outside your local Newsagent with a bedsheet saying "Imran Out" (Mine is called Imran before the PC brigade jump on that!) just cos he won't buy the type of ***s you smoke, could you?
The big problem is that their self perception and public perception are a million miles apart. A - Geordie Nation perception B - Public perception. A - Proud B -Arrogant A - Passionate B - Idiotic A - Everyone's favourite 2nd club B - Not A - Top club B - Middle of the road A - Pro-active B -Aimlessly thrashing about The list could fill 2 pages but I can't be arsed tbh, you get my drift and may agree or not.
Nice try mate but it can't be him ........ he never spent any time on the bench, always first on every team sheet.
It's stuck on repeat, there's **** all I can do ...... besides this is our record player, don't you have one of your own I don't know why you let it bother you so much. Why not stick to the Mag board, you never get any threads on there taking the piss out of Joe Kinnear, complaining about Ashley or groaning at Pardew
