Saw someone on X say they've postponed Tuesday nights player of the year awards, same as last season. Not sure how true it is

That would be poor form. It’s still been a good season on the whole despite this last month or two. The players deserve it and Slater fully deserves his award.

Do you reckon Acun will sack Serj?
Hard to answer correctly. Results-wise, yes (if the season ends out of the play-offs). Style of football in games pre-march, no.

But the run of games the last two months has been worse in results and manner of than under Rosenior and Selles. Too many losses against teams that were beatable.

Big question of why the arse has fallen out of so many players' performances - not just injuries and physical demands, also mental weakness.

My personal preference would be to keep serg for another season, hope he sees what went wrong and manages to correct it, but there's only been a handful of managers that I've wanted out after one season.

I get the reason for this thread, the drop off in the last month or two has been so frustrating.

What went wrong,
- massive turnover of manager, coaching staff and players (again)
- lack of pre season for over half the squad
- series of really unfortunate injuries and way to many injuries
- having no money to spend (we see the limitations of our squad)
- a pitch that in February March that was awful to play on
- change of expectations, some players not being able to deal with that

We can improve all these things over the Summer.

Injuries mainly , sounds weak excuse and every team has them but we have had a crazy amount to key players. Almost comical amount really . Even though squad looks stronger on paper now , not everyone as sharp as they were before . Giles missing half a season , Gelhardt hasn’t been the same since he got back , Hughes not 100% for a while , etc . Think they have just caught up with us now and run out of steam

Maybe. Egan looked better with Hughes next to him. An Ajayi and Egan partnership is a disaster waiting to happen though. I like McNair too.
I mentioned this the other night so apologies for repeating... Egan against Leicester, about 5 minutes gone, Leicester all in their half a ball Is punted away, Egan, no one with 15 yards of him or looking to close him down had time to control the ball on his chest and then pass... instead he jumped underneath it and it went back to Leicester which resulted in their first attack that hit the roof of the net. Someone said above, no confidence. I'm sure their CV says occupation : Professional Footballer.

Very fixable if we maintain Manager and coaching staff stability and minimise Acun driven churn.

Is Coyle really the right captain on or off the pitch. In the games that I see he looks at best below average standard for the championship. The feedback from the regulars seems to confirm this. Also his behaviour off the pitch is not what you want from the club captain. We need strong leadership on the pitch. A defensive midfielder with leadership abilities should be high on the wish list this summer.

Thinking it deserves it's own thread?

Up until around end of January we were mostly a joy to watch. Energy, fight, edge, power, pressing, pace. We were typically 1st to the 2nd ball. Most every time we broke we looked a real threat. Playoffs looked near certain, with autos a realistic possibility.

Then things changed, roughly from Feb onwards. The attributes above disappeared.

Why,? What changed?
I didn’t think you’d allow us to comment as what do we know and how could we know better than the coaching team and Dublin??

What's gone wrong is we've picked the worst time of the season to decide that we're incapable of stringing 2 decent passes together...

We'll find out after the Wrexham v Coventry game Today whether or not it's been terminal or whether a one off performance against Norwich next week can see us limp over the line.

We've lost our mojo,it's happened and does happen but it's unfair to blame one player(Coyle) for it all...We've slumped all over the pitch!!!

Well you were wrong weren't you.
What a bizarre post. Just because my view is that Dublin & gang will know far better whether or not it's a good idea to try to get Collyer back next season v's the nonsensical "he's made of glass" drama commentors on here.
Anything constructive to say on the actual topic?

The problem for Sergei is the fact not so long ago this team appreared to be pretty much a shoein for the plays offs . Now 8 games later they are out of them and seem pretty much not going to make it. I watched the game yesterday and the midfield was pretty much not existent the whole match. Charlton deservedly won. If Rosenior can be sacked for not making the playoffs, then Jakirović shouldn’t be exempt either. I’m not saying it will be the right thing to do , but he is the Manager, he is responsible for tactics, team formation etc and unfortunately in these last 8 games he been found wanting, badly.
