Just one is a tough call so my top six are Criminal Minds 24 Prison Break The Apprentice Luther Masterchef Can we do films next please?
You're right about American comedies, PEA - some of them I barely get half way through the pilot episode - loved Soap and Cheers and later Frasier but that's really about it - wait, I watched Cybill because Alicia Witt was in it. Redhead Heaven. Just re-read my Reggie Perrin trilogy, hilarious, absolute comic genius. If you haven't read the books, I do recommend them, way more complex than the adaptation and deeply moving in places. The BBC should scrub the tapes of that hideous remake, along with Paul Merton's desecration of Tony Hancock's finest works. Cultural vandalism at its worst IMO.
Some American comedies are good. I loved scrubs and well...erm, okay that's it. Guess two and a half men wasn't terrible.
Good shout there, Tewks. I love Reggie Perrin in all formats - except for the re-make which has been scrubbed from my mind. Recently, I went to St Dunstans in Cranford Park to lay flowers at the Tony Hancock memorial. A genius, pure and simple.
That's great, PEA - I was in the Tony Hancock Society for many years and it was a wonderful ceremony in Birmingham to unveil the statue to him in Corporation Street. It's made of thousands of sticks of glass and inevitably sits opposite the headquarters of the local Blood Transfusion Service...
