In the same way most of the Politburo declined to mention Trotsky after he "disappeared".

Are you suggesting we disappeared Nicola<yikes> I wondered what replaced the space left after the Pompey scarf was removed at Staplewood.

A sighting in October.... isn't that a predictor of a very hard winter?

A lot of people seem to hate him because they're obsessed with the idea that we are better off without him and that things wouldn't be this good if he had stayed. We will never know the answer to that question, but he did a good job when he was here and was integral to saving us. Some people seem rather bitter.

I'm glad he was here, but quite happy he's gone. Valuable part of our history, but we are in a happier place now.

I was devestated when he left, but would I want him back? Nah.
I always felt in a bit of a quandary over our Nicola, whilst he was no doubt doing at great job for us, he treated those around him like they were like something on the bottom of his shoe.

Mind you we were at the bottom when he arrived, both in sporting and financial sense. He did what he thought need to do, and some of that wasn't pleasant, but over all his method on the whole was effective...he was expedient, with some of the dark glamour which sometimes follows.

Post Nicola is another world; it's ironic that like angelic Adkins, his executioner the sulfurous Cortese was a manager (CEO) that would get us far, but only so far; yet deserves huge credit for doing so.

Now the we know other methods are available. The sometimes irksome "family club" tag rings true; like being run by your best Dutch pal, a favoured Aunt, an eccentric Canadian Uncle, and in Les a shrewd father, as Fran said who provides well but doesn't spoil his children.

I will always picture Nicola either stroking a cat, or standing on the balcony of the Kremlin inspecting the Red Army.
