For RvP to accept that Arsenal have shown ambition and sign a new deal?

If Sahin & Cazorla are added to Giroud & Podolski, is that enough? That's 4 quality players coming in, while Denilson, Vela, Bendtner, Squillaci, Park & potentially Arshavin & Chamakh could all leave.

That's a trimming that strengthens the squad considerably. So the question is, will that be enough to convince him to stay? If both of those new guys come in, I personally think that Wenger should call his bluff, come out and say that he believes the club have "shown their ambition" by signing 4 internationals - one with 2 European Championships, one who won their domestic league last season as top scorer.

Thanks should crank up the pressure on vP to renegotiate.

What do you think it would take for vP to sign a new deal? Or does he want to leave for other reasons?
 
tbh i know i'm in favour of rvp leaving but i don't hate him and genuinely believe hes leaving because in HIS opinion these players are not competing with others for honors. He is wrong IMO and have a good feeling about next season. All i ask is that he has enough respect for us to move abroad. After all what could he possibly do with £150,000 per week that he can't do with £100,000..call me gullible but i don't get it.
 
Not sure what more we can do. This has been one of the best transfer windows to date. Even if (fingers crossed they do not) the Cazorla and Sahin deals fall through, we have at the very least showed some serious intent and have looked to improve the squad. We have also started to get rid of the deadwood (Vela and Denilson for a start). Sadly, I think RVP has made his mind up and even if we sign Messi now, he will be intent on leaving.
 
I was wondering the same thing this morning. If we sign Cazorla and possibly Sahin, what the **** more could Robin ask for? Messi, Iniesta and Ronaldo? As far as I'm concerned, if these signings go through, then we have been more than reasonable, we've (reportedly) offered him a generous new deal with a loyalty bonus as well. If he still leaves then it's hard to come up with any other conclusion than he wants to retire with a vast fortune, even if it means an easy championship win with a bunch of overpaid mercenaries. I still think we should force him to stay and tell him he can go wherever he wants next summer. I personally would forgo £20 million profit for a trophy, (maybe even a PL championship). We have been too satisfied with the balance sheet lately at the cost of our squad's quality, this has to stop. I don't think he'll sulk and I don't think his performances would drop off. He's a striker after all and he wants to score goals. It's in his interest to play at the best of his ability and who knows? Maybe if we start winning and challenging he might just enjoy himself! Our attack looks pretty good without him but with him it looks scary, I say that we should politely ask him to stay for another season and have a real go at a trophy and the league, a prospect that he might just find attractive.
 
Agree with all of what's been said above, just think it's a shame that it's seen as a good thing that the dead wood have been shipped out. Not that they don't need to be sold, just that they turned into dead wood in the first place when so much was hoped of them, can't help but think that this has something to do with approach rather than them just being bad players (for what it's worth, I think it's a case of playing too many inexperienced players at once, rather than a few at a time alongside more experienced players...think some of the dead wood might have flourished coming into the teams of Viera, Petit, Overmars etc.)
 
If we sign both Sahin and Carzorla I have no problem with letting RVP leave. The squad will be strong enough to challenge.


He's a brilliant player but if he's made up his mind we may as well use the money to fund the other signings. We would have added 4 TOP CLASS Internationals to a squad that finished third. (plus the return of Wilshere)
