For as long as that is true they'll have my support but I really really hope we don't have the ****ing word 'dragon' in our name anytime soon. I think they'll try to phase out the Bluebird's nickname and possibly that's where the Dragon part will come in. Can't we just name our Dragon 'Bluebirds' and keep everyone happy........?
More important point was the warning shot, that he will leave if he feels he is unwanted(not liked as he put it).
In peace lads. Viewing this from the outside it looks to me like you have a bit of a dictatorship going on. The whole 'if you support me I'll stay, if you don't I'll leave" crap would not fill me with any confidence. He doesn't seem to have any clue on what football in Britain is all about and seems to only have his eye on the asian market. Every club strives for success but how much as supporters do you have to take to achieve that. Seems to me that he's got you all lined up over barrels ready to royally shaft you. Having said that, if you look at it from the flip side, if a change of name and colour brings wealth and success to your club it's not the end of the world. At the end of the day it's only the current fans you would piss off. The next generation of supporters would know no different, but be following a successful team.
Oh well the vocal minority stoked up a storm in a teacup today on their boards, strangely it always seems to revolve around sam the scam and the langston debt. They really come out go on a Malaysian bashing mission to try and get a little more support for their agenda not the good of Cardiff City FC
Tan Sri Vincent Tan has today moved to assure supporters that a possible name change to Cardiff City Football Club will not be happening. By means of the following statement Tan Sri said: “I can assure all supporters that we will not be changing our name from Cardiff City Football Club, a club I am very proud to be a part of. Our name is our identity and remains at our core. I would not want any of our supporters to be concerned that this change would be made, hoping that this personal commitment from myself removes any fears. “I believe the colour change is positive and will bring good tidings to Cardiff City Football Club. At this point of time, no decision has been made to change the club crest for the next season. “For the present day, all I would ask is that we all join together, continuing your excellent support at what is a critical juncture in our season. Our collective aim is to back Malky Mackay and his team as they work hard to bring us all success. Working together we can achieve great things in the name of Cardiff City Football Club.” From the official Cardiff city site
Unfortunatley guys he has you over a barell. Either you accept his decisions and thus sell your entire history, identity (although some would argue you have already done that) and tradition or he will walk away and leave you with a crippling 80million debt and staring into the abyss of non existance. Either way, Cardiff City won't be playing in the PL next season then afterall.
Seems one or two people jumping the gun, nothing unusual there then. Especially like the ones who pretend to have concern but are really gloating behind there hand. tut tut and shame on them. Seems Cardiff City will be the name in the Premier :-D
Sweetblue - super statement of intent from VT. The man hasn't gone back on his word since he's been with us, and we should welcome and respect this latest offering.
Where is any real pride? We should never have played under a bloody bluebird in the first place. At last we can play under the red dragon of Wales. Deny the red dragon and you deny that history which goes back a lot longer than the football club. Have you no pride in the Welsh dragon? does it mean nothing to you? Who the hell ever heard of the Bluebird of Wales. jck
Now now, no need to get insulting. Sorry Dai P.S. Bluebirds don't exist anymore, so shouldn't you embrace the change in your clubs identity and change your name to red dragon? Such a shame that a club and its fans have sold their soul so easily and cheaply
When are you lot going to grow a pair......ffs how much lower can you stoop and it wont even be cardiff bluebirds that will get to play in the premiership....It will be a manufactured malasian team using the city of cardiff to build a team....what will be the next bombshell they will come up with???? moving away from cardiff maybe......Aber you wouldn't go bust mate you would have done what we have done and build from the bottom up. It might be slower but at least we did not sell our soul and kept our identity and the record books show swansea city in the premiership and not some boys toys new name, new shirt colours that has no reference to what cardiff city should be...the Bluebirds...they even want to lose the city status in the name......show some balls or you will be sorry when these idiots have moved the club out of cardiff all together....
