First has to be a striker, a goalkeeper is a must, a quality defender, and an experienced mid-fielder, could well need two strikers, a young up and coming premiership lad would be my choice, captain, has to be Flint.
There have been quite a few bids out allegedly. Good players too. I imagine Cotts has a kitty of 10 million to spend on 5 players, as everyone we have gone for has been a 2 million bid. That being the case, one wonders where we are slipping up. Could be the ones we want have not yet come on the market, and we are waiting for the chain to kick off ? I think Cotts wants to bring in quality but things are not moving along yet, at least in the championship - just squad fillers
£10 Million, you really are living in cloud cookoo land, hope your right though, but be amazed if we spend more than £1.5 Million
Like buying a house there will often be a chain involved, and maybe clubs wont sell to us until they have their own replacements sorted out ?
They have already tabled 2 or possibly 3 bids for different position of more than 2 million each. Lansdown has finally found a manager he can work with and rely on. You should try Cloud Cuckoo Land…..its really quite pleasant ! Angelic I think thats the real problem so far. There is a log-jam of decent but unsettled players who are maybe holding out for better contracts, and City are trying to kick-start the whole process by making these bids. Only thing I would say is we will need to be on our toes when the avalanche comes, because we are competing against bigger clubs for more expensive signatures now, and we don't want to miss out. Do your stuff, Mesrs Dawe, Cotts and co.
Landsdown may well support Cotts to the hilt but he must be sceptical after the El Abd deal that is costing a fortune in wages for a player who didn't deliver, hopefully we will go for the twenty something's with a point to prove
Cotts' record is excellent in the transfer market, and he has an outstanding season behind him to prove it. Freeman, Smith, the other Smith (albeit a loan), Little, Wilbraham, all superb. What more can we ask for ?
