I think the lovely Mrs Godders has upset him tonight, possible got a framed picture of Morgan up above the bed?
Which isn't outside the realm of possibility. Let's take Pompey (form and league position goes out the window - anything can happen) and Reading as possible losses for one. Not sure what other TV games we've got on the rest of this season, but let's assume if we have another, we'll get battered there too. Like everyone, I now need our next game to be played and won, and calm can be restored.
I think any manager worth his salt will be able to sit down with a DVD of this game, the Leicester game, Bristol City games, and come up with a decent way to get some points off us. But hope this is just a bad day at the office, and normal order will be restored for the remainder - I firmly believe this to be the case. Sometimes a shake-up and a scare is what a team needs - quick realisation that "oh ****, if we don't pull our finger out, all we've worked for could easily slip away. We're not infallible" - and that can provide vital impetus for the next games. Unbeaten runs tend to come to and end, and the longer they go on, the more likely they are to come crashing to a halt. So in a way, that elephant is now out of the room, and a new run can start. It is definitely possible to now say we can feasibly go unbeaten the rest of the season. I just really hope we don't start drawing games, as that truly is the kiss of death!
It's interesting reading some o he good points raised in this thread. I also thought that the curse of TV would strike and we would get beaten but I never thought we would be brushed aside quite so convincingly by Blackpool. Blackpool were brilliant and most teams would struggle against them - a saleint point was made in the post-match review that you wouldn't want to face them in the play-offs! As for promotion, I think it will be very tight. West Ham have the best squad in the league but seem intend of making things difficult. The momentum is with Reading who , franky, look unstoppable and will end up as Champions. I don't expect us to get anything out of the game against them at St. Marys. The worrying thing for me is how serious is lambert's injury. I wouldn't tend to agree with some of the negative points made about Billy Sharpe - personally I feel he was a gamble to ensure promotion and think we will be out of the door pretty sharpish if we do go up as I don't think he is Premiership quality by a long chalk. We will recoup our money for him when we sell him in the summer. Concerning the other strikers we have available for the run in, I think that Connolly and Tanadari Lee are our best hopes. The former is the most intelligent amongst all our attacking players whereas Lee just seems to have that bit of magic about him. Guly seems to fluctuate between brilliant and rubbish. As for yesterday's performance, the whole team was dreadful. I don't think we are a one man team and although we missed Lambert, some of the better players like Jos, Morgan and Lallana were poor yesterday. It think Cork looked the worse. No passes seemed to reach their destination ad the forwards never looked like being provided with any decent service. I agree the penalty miss was poor but I think the blame is a collective thing as opposed to being soley the fault of Sharpe. Might also be worthwhile commenting that Blackpool looked very good indeed and several of their players excelled themselves. Lets face it, we were out-classed by a better and more inspired team yesterday and don't think Sains fans can grumble and a rare shocker of a performance.
