Well basically we were self employed & had to pay our own tax. We got paid on the amount of tonnage we felled, mostly pine & fir trees. It was very physical graft but I enjoyed it. Thing was, say you had a 50 acre clear fell to do. You cut as much as you could to earn more money but as a result ended up working the contract out quicker. We spent a bit time between contracts on the dole.
Yeah I've been a self contactor here in oz mate, gotta put away the dollars though for the taxman I love the physical work too, love being outdoors and I believe half the battle is won if you don't mind getting up for work every morning.. Don't get me wrong, it's hot and physical but I'm out in nature and I find my work rewarding!
Getting our house ready for sale next week, Buying an old place down by the river which was an old flax mill and its totally ****ed so we will live somewhere rented until ive done it, never thought i would do another one but i didn't fancy just sitting around till i snuff it.
I stayed up all night took a couple of Diazies and a couple of Tram and wiped myself out around 7am, not long got up. Had loads of sleep for once and I'm very happy for it. I've had a great day thank you Billy.
My fig cutting from last summer is going mental, about 12 inches growth already. Mine is a fruiting variety. Once it's fully established, so long as it gets enough sun, I'll get a tasty crop of figs every year. Provided I can keep the little beasties off them.
sitting relaxing, safe in the knowledge that my saturday wont be severely dampened by the bonny lads! useless twats!
