1982 - 3 weeks in Spain, got to see Brazil play Argentina in Barcalona paid 600 paestas for the ticket - in my mind Brazil are the best team I have seen live. Went to Bilbao to see England play - what an industrial ****hole made Teeside look cosmoplolitan - picked up tickets from a tout outside ended up sitting 3 seats away from Bobby Moore.
Something like that mate. I watched a show about it years later, apparently the French weren't happy about integrating French players that weren't born in France so pretty much said they weren't interested, but like I said before, the better they became they all returned
If you're old enough to remember those two, and I am, none will beat them. Mind, we were beaten by West Germany in a way that still aches! Dodgy keeper in as Banks had Montezuma's revenge, ... despite eating exactly the same food as everyone else! Alf taking Bobby Chatlton off. Ball hitting the post at 2-3, something I can't actually remember but seen on some highlights a few years ago, and generally out playing them for the most part. After that game, Pele is quoted as saying that he and the rest of the team went out to celebrate, as they knew then that they would win the cup. England would have been their opponents in the final, and Brazil and Pele said they knew that was a 50/50 game.
1966 because of England's win. 1970 the Banks save and the brilliance of Pele and Brazil. 1982 with possibly the best Brazilian team never to win it and 1990 gazza, bobby robson, lineker and the almost fairy tale ending
Yes it is....The rules of the World cup then, was who won the competition 3 times kept the Jules Rimet trophy forever and it went to best footballing i've ever seen. Just a note on that 1970 Brazil team, every one of those players at the time of the competition was a Brazil based player...probably would never happen again in the future
