What was City's lowest attendance.

Someone mentioned this on another thread and I'm pretty sure I was there but can't remember the game.
If it was 3rd May 1980 when most of Hull were at Wembley to see the KR v FC final I was at BP with 3296 others watching us beat Southend 1-0 C/O Keith Edwards.
Anyone got the stats?

Seem to recall us getting a crowd of about 1,700 for a midweek game against Torquay in the league once.

The weather was terrible, Champions League football was on the telly and the football was bound to be crap, although I think we won. May have been during Terry ****wit's last season in charge.

Also recall us getting c. 500 for a game v Chester City in the Auto Windscreen Cup.

Stattos can confirm / deny.

Can't claim to have been at either fixture.

Thanks. I was being a bit lazy. Just dug through my books and it looks like it was 7th December 1981 V Newport County - Att. 2059 (won 3-1 C/O Mutrie(2) and Edwards)
It was the last game of the 80/81 season when we finished bottom. I'm not so sure I was there now, was anyone else on here?

I think you're right. I seem to recall something like 1900 for a Pools game that was the lowest at the time and then Torkey beat it.

I would bet that most of those that seem to get so upset about chanting, people standing up etc weren't at those games but quite few of those who don't were. Looking at the record books I was at 7 of the lowest gates we have had (I also think that those going on about the chanting really want to get a grip).
My yardstick for true fans was being there for City when so many had decided to go to Wembley, many who had never been to a rugby match before or since. A lot must ha e just gone for that final as FC and Rovers only a enraged about 19-20,000 between them that season. And,yes, I was one of those at the Southend game and not at Wembley.
Sad to think people at these games mentioned didn't get tickets for a lot of the prestigious away games whilst in the Premier League and had to see people who had just arrived somehow getting them for Old Trafford, The Emirates etc. Of course the ones who were there for the low gates are still there and all those new arrivals, who were sat like dummies at away games telling people to sit down and shut up have scuttled back away.

One thing I've noticed here is that when there's a REALLY low crowd, we win!
So with my thinking, me moving down to Birmingham and reducing the crowd, I've really taken one for the team.

I had the misfortune to attend all three games although the Southend game when Sir Keith scored was better than having to endure the eggchasers day out at Wembley.

I have recently seen a T shirt with the words 3rd May 1980, a picture of something not dissimilair to the match programme, and at the bottom the legend. Limited edition, One of only 3297.

There are not many left who could wear these but it is nice to see there are a few on here.

Lost 4-1 i think? Geo opened the scoring.....Premier League Clash and it was the lowest in the whole competition that weekend and lowest between any two premier league teams ever i do believe

the true fan argument is getting a bit **** and you can twist different facts to suit how you want..
i noticed a few "die hards" chose to sit at home and watch Emmerdale on Tuesday instead of paying a few extra quid to support the lads, despite the short distance in petrol costs probably levelling it up to the same cost as most other games..
