Probably get slated, but I was just reading of a dam collapse in Brazil with hundreds missing. This will probably be the only post on here about it. More or less of a tragedy?
As I posted on another thread I have felt the loss of Sala on a number of levels, feeling for him, his family, his friends and the club. What Sala's father, mother, sister must be going through. Not knowing, no body....
I also feel for those in Brazil and their families. Not knowing, no bodies.......
The difference is the level of connection. I feel more for Sala due to his relationship with the football club I support, which is less so than I have felt for losing family and friends. I never met him, saw him in the flesh or even heard him speak. I don't even know the region of Brazil where the dam burst, further levels of abstraction.
I would be happy to contribute to the funding of a search for the plane and bodies of Sala and Ibbotson, and have messaged the club to suggest a funding page. I would, and have in the past, contributed to other disasters and their causes.
This is a sad time for people, across the world. Some I know, some I know of, some I don't even know exist.
People will deal with all these situations in different ways. Doesn't make them good or bad people, doesn't make them more or less caring.
We'll all deal with things in our own ways, in our own time. When we're ready, we move on.

The depth of emotion felt is always relevant to the personal closeness of the tragedy - the Brazilian dam collapse is a good example. Horrific tragedy that looks like affecting hundreds of victims and their families but it doesn't seem to come close to our recent event on the "emotion scale".

Hard to say but nevertheless true that even the Emiliano tragedy can never come close to a family loss - not for me anyway. Like many others I'm sure, I've been there several times with my own and my wife's parents, elder brother and a two and a half year young member of our family with an incurable kidney condition - that was really horrendous at such a young age and nothing else seemed to matter.

Inevitably even the sense of loss for Emiliano will fade with the passing of time. Sad to say it's just a question of practicalities for the club right now and someone has got to pick up the baton and get on with it.

Oh, bloody hell, Aber! That's thrown the cat amongst the pigeons and a bit of well-placed humour into the board!!!!
Black humour can sometimes give a lift where otherwise there is no opportunity. We've had a rough week of it and tragedy is close. it is true the further away it is, the less the effect. Let's hope we can keep it far enough away to give us some relief but not so far that we do not care.

<laugh>.....black humour is my favourite coping cloak.......but it does remind me of walking on barnacled rocks with no shoes and socks on.

masky be ok, think he was due for his penis enlargement operation this week, adding another two inches 2 him giving him a grand total of five inch of morning glory..........
