Because we are and always have been a club that buys expensive and sells cheaply. With one or two exceptions to that rule over the past 60 years!
I wouldn't be so sure about only getting £1m - there are likely to be quite a few clubs interested which of course, will heLp drive the price UP, not down...
Any scout watching him will say great skill, good pace, but far too often makes the wrong decision Don't get me wrong, I love Albie, but he does have some serious flaws to his game
Think Adomah's been better the last few games. Still his final ball is 'inconsistent' but he still is exciting going at defenders and SOD has actually managed to get him to track back. Others will have noticed and I hope we sell him for closer to £2million.
I'd be shocked if we got £2M for him. Hell, I'd be shocked if we got £1M for him considering we're now a League 1 team and he's easily a player of Championship quality. The only way we'll get money for him is if he doesn't come out and request a transfer. This way, we can sell while knowing that Adomah is still fighting for promotion to League 1 if he sticks around. We need to bear in mind that we came bottom of the Championship. Next season we are not favourites to go up. We're likely to be favourites for 3rd-5th next season given our numerous troubles, lack of money, and general mood. League 1 has a number of strong teams that we will struggle with if we keep this seasons form going. Adomah will know this, and he knows he'll be able to do better. Other clubs will also know that we're in a position to sell in order to be promoted, so they will have the upper hand in negotiations.
Steve Lansdown said in his interview that he knows we have got things wrong in the past and now we have a chance to set that straight with Albert. First 2 million on the table gets him, but I have a terrible feeling in the back of my mind that he may become another Nicky situation. Other teams must surely spot that he only shows up on occasions but can also disappear off the radar during some games but then perhaps a savvier manager than our previous ones could make him in to a much better player. Regrettably he is a snapshot of so many players these days who think they are better than the rest and yet rarely go out and prove it when it matters. I just wish some of these so called brilliant players would stop listening to their egoes, and their agents, and just settle down with the club you are supposed to love and enjoy life and the game.
I'd sell him, a luxury we probably can't afford in league 1, whatever we sell him for it will be a profit and if we can include a sell on clause then who knows what we might get in future. Didn't we pay £800,000 for Pitman? an untested striker in the championship, so I think £1,500,000+ is a small asking price for an international player who has played in the championship.
