Will get the mulled wine on the go tonight then sip away for the weekend as no one else will touch it. Along the lines of; two cheap but half decent bottles of red from Lidl The peel of a couple of tangerines Half a dozen cloves a stick of cinnamon some cardamon pods Two star anise tablespoon of caster sugar and see what comes out of it. Apparently the tip is you make a syrup of the ingredients before adding the wine and just bringing it up to heat, otherwise you boil off all the alcohol and that would defeat the object.

I've had some **** stuff in my time but was up in Manchester a couple of weeks ago and had a couple at this outside bar. It was ****ing magic, I **** you not. The plan is to replicate that.
