That looks lovely. How hot do you make them? I like a madras but there is no consistency with the heat of them over here. I don’t think a madras should blow your head off and they often do.

For me that's comfortable to eat without beading and hiccuping. Vindaloo does that to me so I tend to stay safe.

Sounds a bit to pokey. That said when I make a chilli con carne I usually out two teaspoons of hot chilli powder, 4 fresh finger chillis and cayenne pepper. A madras should be full of flavour and be a reasonable level of spice, not that spicy so you lose feeling in your tongue.

Agreed, it was comfortable and delicious too, same taste as you get in any indian takeaway throughout the british isles.

I've stopped ordering hot, hot curries in 'Indian' restaurants.
Agree, a Madras should be nice and hot without it being tongue burning because they've loaded it with some hot powder or other.

Prefer Nepalese curries. Good heat, not searing, and loads of flavour by proper use of spice.

Indian ( British Bangladeshi) restaurants aren't as good.

Only tried Nepalese once. We did have a Nepalese restaurant in a village I grew up in up on the common. It was awful. So can’t really judge them on that place. Was a help yourself buffet place.

I prefer proper Indian curries cooked by Sikhs. Loads of places in brum and my local is owned by Sikhs. He makes a lamb or chicken curry or a keema curry. All are tremendous. Keema especially.

The Gurkhas are based near Brecon. Would imagine there is a few Nepalese places. Agree on the ice cream too.
