Yeah, I think this one ok too. Canal side, very nice location anyway. My actual local is one, if you recall? Not been for a while, prefer to drive (be driven) to our not as local local.
He never say what the f(u)ck he has for dinner. I’d wager alphabetti spaghetti and fish fingers every night. Can’t imagine living a box room wearing Lonsdale equates to much better grub.
So, had a mixed grill and, while out, missed lots more talk about and to Matth. Takes me back to those halcyon times on the United board when exactly the same happened. When there were users of that forum. The mixed grill was good though. Had a couple too many beers so got a bit of a headache today, made the mistake of drinking points of Peroni to start with. Bath is a lot more expensive to drink beer in than north Devon. Might go down the classic route of have a bad head = eat more **** and go for a breakfast.
Had my first drink in ages last night. 4 pints of Guinness and I feel terrible. Genuinely think I’m going to get told I can’t drink anymore.
This pub had Halloween stuff all over the place. I remember when Halloween was a hollowed out turnip with a candle in it, now it has a three week lead in, it's ****ing ridiculous. Worse still, they had a ****ing Christmas tree up! It was to advertise their Christmas menu and such like but still, it was a fully decorated tree. Mid october. My head tells me I should probably not drink anymore too.
Loads of people always go on about it here and want to go as it is only about 20 minutes on the train. I think it is ****, nothing to do there. You just end up walking over that bridge thing 50 times going to average pubs. Couldn't imagine going to uni there, would want somewhere livelier personally.
It's just got that Olde World feel to it, Dickensian if you like! Americans seem to like it anyway, they're everywhere. Will really look the part at Christmas, no doubt. Loads of decent pubs and it's busy all the time but the prices are eye popping, you pay for that old Englandness.
There are some bog standard ****e in the main tourist/shopping areas, that is true. Some great little backstreet boozers though, decent ales to be had. They all seem to sell pies as well. It's big selling point is it's Christmas markets but I'm used to Manchester on that front and Bath won't even come close. Manchester has the Christmas market deal all sealed up, ****ing bedlam.
Tbf I've only ever gone in the summer so tended to stick round the centre/train station. The Xmas market here is alright, nothing special though. Can't imagine Bath's being any better really. Probably doesn't help that I only drink cider and cant stand lager or ale so German markets/ale houses are my idea of hell.
We needed somewhere not too lively for my son or he'd do **** all work, it fits the bill 1hr and a 1/2 from home Bristol not too far and easy route down to London. He wont settle there he's already said that.
