The injury is popliteus tendonitis. The hamstring is a muscle surely? It's essentially your leg bicep.
You got me thinking and I just looked at anatomy of the leg, good job I never wanted to be a physio
The hamstring is actually a group of muscles in the thigh (as you thought), I was right about the attachment though <ok>

As Diego says, any muscle which actuates against a bone has a tendon - the tendon is the definition for the fibres which join the muscle to the bone. Both the hamstring and the popliteus have tendons at the end to join them to the knee.

If it's popliteus tendonitis you have to be careful not to fully lock your knee under load. IIRC that's the one that people tend to **** up doing squats and leg lifts by straightening their legs whilst lifting heavy weights.

I do kind of know what it is in that I know it's not muscle and it's not ligament. Which is why I asked which tendon I was talking about, but I would surmise myself it's where the hamstring joins the back of the knee.

It's been caused by golf. A **** load of force goes through my left knee when I tee off and I've tweaked it doing that. I thought a week or so rest would help but it's still there, throbbing away, today.

I'll just plough through it, it's a new issue so not something that I've had historically so I'm sure it'll go. I will be testing it out later today but won't be having a run.

Was planning on a squat and deadlift session but I'm not doing anything that will put strain on the knees.

Right, I've got some weight to lose.

Have taken my eye off the ball since Christmas and am now in need of a good stone to shed leading into the nicer weather.

Made a good start yesterday, had the first Sunday without at least a glass of wine with tea since **** knows when.

Small smoothies for breakfast and boiled egg snacks from here on in. Have to cut the crap out.

Any tips or are you all fat ****s?

I found falling downstairs and fracturing 3 vertebrae and 3 ribs to be a very effective way of losing weight <ok> I lost over 2 stone <laugh>

Last weekend in freezing Blighty for a good while, so enjoying a farewell meal with the family. To set the mood I am making chicken and chorizo paella washed down with a gutsy red, but only after we have wet the whistle with a few Estrellas to get the evening going. Salut.

I had a couple of Estrellas at the cricket club. Any good Spanish wines you'd recommend (that are available at a vast premium in the U.K.)?

It depends what you like, gutsy or 'fruity' as they say. We are lucky enough to have a place in Menorca and below is a link to the wine we usually drink while we are there - heavy stuff, but usually chilled (their way, not ours). If that one isn't to your liking the website offer a good choice of good quality Spanish wine.

Cheers, I'll give that one a go and maybe try a few others

What do you pay for it in Spain? There's a Portuguese wine we like that we discovered in Lisbon a couple of years ago. 20 odd euros in the hotel, 4 euros in the supermarket, I buy it from Majestic but only when it's on offer at £6.99 (list price £9.99, usually £7.99). We get mullered by booze tax over here!

It's a bit misleading because I buy it direct from the vineyard at €6.50 although I have seen it at €9.99 in the Mahon airport duty free. Not bad value when you consider they pack and ship bottles all the way to your door.

Slow cooked lamb shoulder tomorrow looking forward to it, didn't really like the fish pie I made yesterday but I don't really like fish pie at all. Everyone seemed to enjoy it though.

Buying some Mahou on the way home for this evening we have a family quiz night lined up and then it's footy all day tomorrow and home brewing on Monday, making a batch of San Miguel.

Try Sangre del torro. You can buy it in Sainsbury's. it's my favourite.
