Think it depends on the club.. And how much of a dick the captain chooses to be. At ours you have to organise the handicap league matches 2 a month. Attend committee meeting on a Thursday evening. Organise the charity dinner. Organise the club championship. Then a few friendlies. Most annoying part is having to play in the mixed competitions.
At the club I used to be a member of, being club captain cost the individual a lot of money. Can't remember the full ins and outs, but as club captain certain things were expected which ended up costing the said individual a shed load.
If it's anything like I am a member and have been a member it would be a pain in the arse. They don't just give you free membership and have nothing back in return. Feel rough as **** today. Work do tonight so that's about standard, always happens. Now can't be arsed to go to said work do, can't be arsed to a thing to be honest.
Well I was hammered yesterday by 3pm. 4 pints before eating.. 4 bottles of wine between 5 of us plus another pint and another glass of wine.. I was ****ed. Mrs came and picked me up at 5. Passed out in the car, passed out on the sofa as soon as I got in. Woke up at 9 then took myself to bed. Can't even remember what the **** I ate. Think it was pork loin.
Was going to take it easy tonight as I'm supposed to be playing golf tomorrow but, surprise surprise, the weather is now forecast tomorrow as ****ing washout so I might just get bladdered and have done with it.
Got the weekend off and wanted to play golf both days but both now look terrible.. Sunday looking marginally better.
It does. It's starting to look very sensible indeed. Got one next week for my site, away from all prying eyes. THAT one is going to go with a ****ing bang!
Miller and Carter last night, twas nice but very over hyped by some. Truffle baked mushrooms starter was just garlic mushrooms, decent steak but small a nice place but nothing special.
Can't say I've ever heard of the place(s) but nor do I go out in Cardiff much. Mates who live there have never mentioned it. Our do is in the Marriott tonight. No doubt it will be mass produced ****e served up as traditional Christmas Fayre.
Going for our Christmas do next week. Going here: http://theoldrec.co.uk It's in the Michelin guide. Food is excellent.
Ours next week is here; https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/devon/the-water-gate-barnstaple Definitely not Michelin starred!!!
It's not got a star but to get in the guide means it's good. This is the menu.. http://theoldrec.co.uk/download/i/mark_dl/u/4009026100/4625434465/DECEMBER a la carte 2.pdf Can you guess what I will be having???
It's ours tonight. I've armed myself with a spliff containing high octane herb, which is currently residing ib ny coat pocket wrapped in about a yard of tinfoil Will defo do the trick. It's at the Golden Pheasant at Plumley near Knutsford. It was superb last year. On the 22nd, I'm going with two clients to the Marble Arch on Rochdale Rd. A real-ale gaff with a micro brewery. Ruff, you may have heard of it. One of the clients did his PhD at Manchester uni. He's the one who took me to OT for our match last year. He invited me again this year, but I politely declined, thank **** It doesn't appear to sell Carling
I don't know it, must be Ardwick area? The whole 'northern quarter' is now completely different, although I'd say that's outside of this. A very good evening out there. One of three or four areas of town with Spinningfields, Deansgate, Deansgate locks, media city(Salford) and even the rather ****e printworks which makes me question the sanity of anyone who prefers elsewhere!
