Those prawns were whoppers. Lovely with garlic butter too. Love pan fried squid. Crispy tentacles are my favourite bit
I love it all. Simple is the key for me. Garlic, maybe some chilli and black pepper, a wedge of lemon The flavours of Squid, Octopus, Prawns and shellfish etc are really delicate, so they don't need loads of flavours adding imo
Just from a local fishmonger. I don't think they will be from UK waters though Best prawns I've had were in Portugal. Massive chargrilled prawns served in a piri piri sauce
Monk fish is amazing. Have you ever prepped one from the whole fish before. It's a ****ing mission, which is probs why it's so expensive.
It's an ugly ****er too. The tail needs cutting away from the spine and then the whole tail is in this kind of sac/skin thing that also needs cutting away. It's a fair bit of prep, but worth it for a wonderful fish. I tend to order steak or rump beef etc when I'm out, coz the missus is veggie so I don't tend to buy much meat in at home.
Not massive on fish Still waiting for someone to give me a better use of fish than the traditional fish n chips.
I find fish useful as a light meal in the summer, having it with salad or veg. Although probably not a good time at the mo, to be chatting to you about food, probably your desire right now, for the traditional fish n chips.
