    There are so many rabbits running wild though seems daft not to eat them, I used to sell loads to a local butcher.

    That tastes fine though, don't want them bred for it but might as well use it when the animal is of no use.

    I agree, they literally breed like ... rabbits. The issue for supermarkets though, is that they want cheap meat as consumer demand is for low prices. If they have to pay a gamekeeper to go around shooting/trapping rabbits vs farming them in a pen, then they'd opt for the cheaper option.

    But like you say, you can get good game meat from a decent butcher. So I'd rather see it kept out of the clutches of the price driven competition that operates in the big supermarkets.

    My local gets them in regularly.
    They're a pest. Used to shoot them and net them using ferrets when I was younger.
    Ferrets are great pets.

    I think wild rabbits can breed virtually every month, and considering they have large litters, that's one hell of a population growth, if not controlled by local fox populations.

    I used to drop off about 20 for a local butcher one a week or fortnight and he'd pay me £1 per bunny, good beer money back in the day.
