takes the crunchyness out of the batter and makes it soggy.. I like my batter to be crunchy... Its like having a full english brekkie, have to make a barrier of some sort to stop the beans making the bacon soggy..
Beans are fine, it's tinned tomatoes that **** up a full hit. Why anyone has them on it is beyond me, you may as well plate up the breakfast then piss on it.
Beans are responsible for ruining crispy bacon.. That said you are right vis a vis the tomatoes.. Not keen on them, if they're there then no juice and covered in Worcester sauce and then smothered with hp brown.. The ideal is half a grilled beef tomato..
Tonight I will be making calamari followed by a selection of continental meats and cheese washed down with red wine..
Went out for lunch today. Food was ok but the straight from the barrel Old Rosy was even better. Knocked me bloody sideways. Mini beer fessie at the local, which was a nice surprise. Pizza and salad and dips later, bottle of Shiraz ready to go. Firstly though, a badger golden glory.
Glad you had an enjoyable 'lunch' Was on the ale last night, had a couple of weird welsh pale ale, then on the hobsons.. Tonight's menu is... Deep fried breaded camembert.. Spanish style calamari, got a new recipe to try.. Followed by a selection of meats and cheese.. I have a particularly smelly Brie, is more like stinking bishop.. ****ing lush it is.. Washed down with a Pinot noir and a temporanillo ..
What was wierd about it? Had a lasagne at dinner. Sat in the pub garden. Two blokes came in on horse back and had a pint of lager. It was not right. Seriously though, if anyone ever offers you an Old Rosy in the daytime, say no.
Was Pontypridd was really tangy.. Not unpleasant but not great either.. Old Rosie in the day is living life on the edge. I salute you
I don't get gravy on battered fish. Would be very weird.. Pie or sausage yes.. Fish no.. Well this weeks calamari recipe was the best yet..
I won't lie mate, in my decades of northern living I never knew anyone to have fish, chips and gravy. Peas, yes. Even pea wet. But not gravy. Maybe things have changed? Peoples tastes mature. I blame the Chinese. I just had a bottle of Wychwood alcoholic ginger beer. It's ok, spicy. You couldn't have a session on it though.
Deep fried camembert down I just can't see how battered fish works with gravy.. Perhaps having some in a tub purely for purposes of dunking chips.. Definitely not smothered over said dinner..
The joy of google on the phone Wouldn't have had a clue else.. Don't get that down here, just like we don't get scraps.. Best thing about the north is the chippys are far superior.. As are their pies. One thing I like if I ever venture to the black country is the chippies sell the most amazing ***gots. Do like a ***got..
To kill or bum? I never indulged in pea wet myself, I imagine it just makes your chips soggy. Strange really. ***gots are popular down here too. In fact I reckon if pushed the Welsh would try to claim them as their invention.
