Hmmm. If it's taken out the freezer and been kept at the correct temp, then it's not technically out of date.

Personally I aim to use everything within one month of it passing the use by date, if it's been kept in the freezer.

However, you might want to do some research before ripping the piss out of him...just saying bro, to save you making yourself look foolish <whistle>

Btw the one month rule I apply is only fresh produce when bought. If it's frozen produce when bought, I keep to the use by date on the packet.

So Sweats chicken was just over two months past it's use by date. If it was stored at the correct frozen temp, then it's fine, just quality deteriorates the longer it's kept.

Obviously if that had just been kept in a fridge, then he's got a death wish <laugh>

Anyone got any good ideas for a nice starter? Was planning on doing bhaji but she doesn’t want anything deep fried.

Was thinking scallops though think I can only get small frozen ones.

    Frozen scallops are hanging.

If you want something fishy, how about either mackerel pate or some seared mackerel filets?

She won’t eat bread which is essential with pate. I’m also not a fan of fresh mackerel . My cooking repertoire is generally unhealthy stuff.

ginges suggestion of French onion soup is a good shout but soup isn’t special enough.

Something simple but tasty like smoked salmon rolls with cream cheese filling and salad, maybe a few tiger prawns lobbed in for good measure?
