Good idea however the annoying part is you've spent the best part of a grand just upon arrival! Yeah I could spend a couple of weeks in somewhere like the US where you can find decent weather for a couple of weeks but the heat in some places is too much.
Is this now the food/holiday thread? We're going to Vendee area of France in August, near to La Rochelle and amongst the sand dunes of the Atlantic coast. Seventeen days, although three of those are travelling with the car/ferry etc. I got to say, I can not ****ing wait for this to arrive. Plan to eat **** loads of French food (on topic) , drink **** loads of French booze and just get fat and red as a beetroot while chasing three kids around for a fortnight. Got a long weekend in Pembrokeshire planned for early autumn too, to be confirmed.
I wouldn't mind a week in France.. Would love to visit Normandy and the war graves.. Drink some shot hot wine and devour a proper cassoulet .
The French know how to put out food, no doubt about that. There's a website for the little town we're staying and the variety of restaurants is looking very good, quite a few seafood ones that caught my eye. There's also La Rochelle to visit and this place called Ille de Rey. We were going to Galicia but it was booked up so I'll book early for that next year, the northen coast Spain food also looks the absolute bollocks. Had some each way bets for The Masters, no change from what I said yesterday; Dustin Johnson Lee Westwood Louis Oosthuizen and I added Justin Rose.

La Rochelle was the wartime base for German U Boats. It's where the sub in 'Das Boot' got divebombed to **** It's just full of stinking frogs now

What thread?? you stalking me?? My Grandmother was from the Reich and to be precise East Prussia which was the home nazism.. My great uncle was Waffen SS in a tank regiment.. though prior to the war he lived and worked in Hull. My fathers fathers side of family originate from sicily. His mums side from Ireland. And my grandad on my mums side was proper old school english family of land owners and farmers from shrophire border with Worcestershire.
I actually am pretty PC. I just can't help the fact that I hate the French, because they hate us (by and large).

Went to the pub tonight, had roast of the day, which was beef. Gravy, cabbage, carrots, peas, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding, bit of horseradish on the side. Had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for afters and two pints of pedigree with it all. By God it was bloody good too.
