For The Prodigal Son?


The return of Robert Earnshaw at the start of the season got Bluebird pulses racing at the thought of one of Cardiff's greatest ever servants set to bring back memories of goals galore in the nations capital.


Things haven't quite panned out as expected for Earnie though,as the homecoming celebration was cut short by the arrival of another famous goal poacher from north of the border.Since then the youngsters have started to make their mark in a team transformed from a staid restricted gathering to a vibrant close-knit team by a very capable young manager.


There is speculation that Earnie could make an appearance in the forthcoming West Brom F.A.Cup game, having been absent for much of the season,even from the bench.I hope there is substance is this rumour as it would provide Earnie the opportunity to remind everyone what we are missing.This isn't a anti-Miller rant by the way,I just think Earnie's talent is simply wasted when he isn't even named as a substitute.He can hardly be turning cartwheels so to speak.


Would he be better off elsewhere if there is any strength in the rumour that we are in the market for another striker?
 
His time has past. Probably destined for us as a free agent before Malky got his feet under the table.

Doesn't fit the preferred profile/template that Malky seems to go for. In all honesty, his low work rate overall combined with the loss of much of his pace over the first five yards (he never did have any after that) has left him outside looking in. Shame, but that's the way it goes if your manager looks for different attributes to the ones you possess.

He CAN and WILL score goals at this level, but his chances here will be severely restricted unless there is an absolute injury crisis that borders on a disaster.

If that is the thinking of Lord Malkyroy then other than shifting shirt sales (which hasn't happened),what really was the point in bringing the guy home?

He had his chance early on but dropped down the pecking order, he will score goals but I doubt it will be for Cardiff.
 
it was a signing for the fans possibly, he was available, we needed players, it seemed a perfect fit. MM likes miller and he is one of the first players on the teamsheet, so although he's probably 2nd choice striker, as we only play 1 up front its a difficult situation. poachers like him want to play every week but its hard having a game here and there, i wouldnt blame him if he said he didnt sign up to be on the bench. i remember last season (possibly in the play off) he scored a great poachers goal, i think he's still got alot to offer but maybe as rhondda says he may be better of elsewhere, and thats a shame IMO.
 
I posted elsewhere that on the occasions that he has played he looked well off the pace and unfit, a shame because he's so well loved but if he's struggling for fitness he may be better off elsewhere getting regular first team action.
 
unfortunately, most (if not all) of the above is spot on. I happily rode the 'Earnie's coming home wave' at the time but it hasn't worked out and probably that wont change any time soon. I'd much rather see Earnie finish his time on the pitch somewhere else rather than become the forgotten man @ CCS.

Whatever happens, nobody can take away the fact he drove the fastest milkcart in the west <ok>

His loss of pace allied with not particularly good close control has seen him drop down the pecking order. If we were a team which regularly got into the opponents box then Earnie would be a regular scorer but as our build up has become more patient our style, with a need to retain the ball, does not suit him and vice versa.

If we are looking to bring in another striker then it would be best for Earnie and us if he moved on, maybe to Div 1 where the loss of pace would not be such an issue.
