We may need a special thread for the World Championships in August as we wave goodbye to the "Greatest" and let's hope for lots of Kenyan victories as well as for our greatest Olympian ever, Mo Farah, on the running track. Then I am a happy bunny!!

Watson and Kontinen beat the number 4 seeds in straight sets to go into the quarter finals. Watson and her Finnish partner are unseeded and presumably haven't played much in the last year, but were Wimbledon Champions in 2016. Kontinen has also gone through in the men's doubles.

Great day on Centre Court this afternoon. Second match is Konta v Williams, followed by Murray/Hingis v Skupski/Rae. The first match will be used for British supporters to settle in their seats and sort out their picnics. :)

At what point in the match does Konta become Hungarian/Australian again? Do we wait until she has lost, or do we revoke her Britishness when it looks like Williams is coasting through? <laugh>

Konta loses, but she should be proud of her run. Her forehand let her down today, far too many errors. Still, she will be in the top 5 in the world rankings next week, which when you think she was 167th a year ago is amazing progress.

If she doesn't win 4 Grand Slams next year, her fans will be booing her :)
