Now then Northy. As some of the humour in your recent posts have not always been appreciated by your chosen targets how can I put this without sounding patronising? Read the last sentence. Until someone answers that coherently, many including moi cannot see the sense of getting rid. We remain what we we always were - a club of limited means. Replacing one very expensive mistake with another is not the answer.
And the name of the messiah? Without that it just sounds like a Monty Python sketch of old gits saying "something needs to be done"
Why do people think it could take some sort of messiah to replace an incompetent manager?? The bloke proves more and more everyday what a pathetic excuse for a football manager he is! He has not once taken any responsibility for the position he has got us in. Give it a few weeks Yorkshire and i reckon you will see the light!!
It would help if people didn't have ridculous expectations in the first place. Let's consider the response to each of our recent managerial failures. Holloway - "Tactically clueless" Dowie "Hopeless" Di Canio "Team good to watch but not a clue in setting up a team that can defend" Magilton "Thuggish mentality - not right for our pampered superstars" Sousa "Wouldn't know where the ball was supposed to go" Hart "Negative - not a clue" Warnock "Tactically inept - out of his depth" Hughes "No tactics, no charisma". All of these signings were hyped at the time and, it seems, most of you bought into the dream. If you look at my posts over time you will see that I have been less willing than most to buy into TF's dream from the start, well at least since the disgraceful way the most succssful manager in recent years was unceremoniously dispatched to make way for Hughes. However the decision having been made, we have now to make the most of it. We do need a messiah because all the above names have been successful to a greater or lesser degree elsewhere. Not always but they did have their positive moments. All I want is one of you to tell me the name of that man who is going to turn it round. I'm not interested in getting into a Wolves scenario where we sack first, dither over the demands of the prospective new men and settle for Marc Bircham to caretake us all the way back to the Championship. Or perhaps the Blackburn model i.e, 'Let's all demonstrate after every game and make Hughes' life a misery to force him out.' That will only destroy the morale of the team and ensure he gets the job of relegating us this season done. It takes time. Accept it or go and support Chelsea. Come on you lot. What's the plan? Who is the man?
Did someone say Paul Lambert? I know him. He's quite good. He's made his name building teams greater than the sum of their parts with budgets much smaller than yours. That said, he's got a bit of a task on his hands at the moment tho.
What you on about, accept it or go and support chelsea!!! Accept relegation ?????? You havin a laugh!! Of all the managers you named only one could do the job he was hired for and that was warnock. The others got sacked because they were not right. Hughes is the worst of all. The plan is simple, set up correctly and try to win games from kick off instead of after 45 mins. The man, anyone with half a brain who understands what that takes.
You're not getting it Yorkshire. A coach from the blue square league could get more from this set of players imo. Doesn't matter who. And why should I "accept it or go and support Chelsea"? I pay a lot of money for my season tickets and this is a forum for discussion. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but if we simply do nothing, I believe Hughes will take us down. If you want a name.....Rednapp, in my opinion would be ideal on a short contract to keep us up. Long term I'd prefer Benitez. Changing managers regularly on a whim is wrong......changing a manager who is getting it so badly wrong is logical, even at the expense of short-term stability.
Some are obviously happy to scrap relegation! Look at the bigger picture regarding expectations Yorkshire. What is a fan or a club without them? Someone comes in and spends a fair amount of cash on some potentially quality players who we never could dream of signing in a lower league, he then states we will never be in a relegation battle again, tells us most of his business was done in a wasted pre season and that he has high expectations for the season. From all that, was to not be in a relegation scrap with no win unrealistic for our expectations??
