Yep two umpires at the level I currently play at, usually one from each side. Have seen a fair few bias bastards and one that hates our club and likes to send our players off. But at one time I used to play higher (and our 1st team still do) where the umpires are supplied on the neutral scheme. So the bias isn't supposed to be there. Only come across two lifetime bans, only one cause the player hit another across the chest with the stick, deliberate swing in a break in player and he had previous. Also led to their club being suspended for a year and a half. The other was because the player robbed club accounts (my club btw) and he was banned from playing in the UK. You still playing Frank? Who for?
In the cases of Webb and Dowd, they and their families should be used in real action Saw films. With Dyke and the FA too.
I would try to bring in the rugby system myself. 1. Refs are human, we all accept it. but we get real. there is no harm in fixing things that go wrong. Each rugby match has an independant citing officer that presides over each game. each team can cite an opponent and so can the officer. Happens on the day of the game. Anything happening that should have been dealt with? gets dealt with. its really simple and the "video panel2 and the ref get out crap about yellows rather than reds, missed fouls and so forth are dealt with..... it also will cut down on diving cos if i had an opponent throw himself down i'd cite him and have a yellow or red rescinded. 2. Fitness? For me it is not much of an issue. 3. more eyes on the game? I would like the 4th official to not be a board lifter and talking shop for managers. I would put him beside a screen to watch incidents and allow refs to refer to him. 4. Culture. We need to break the ref is god culture. we see too much of linesmen bottling their decisions or nobody giving opinion. the rule should require every decision be flagged by assistants... look at the europa end line muppets. they dance about and never lift an arm of give anything.... pointless. 5. I would mike the refs... I would require them to turn on said mike when calling a free. In american football this is very obvious. If a player is caught being foul mouthed on mike... auto 3 match ban and big fine... simple. its not the 80s and its not tony adams... get over that and simply have the ref explain his decision live. that "should" end the ref saving cards up for later in games and being inconsistent. 6. be specific... no more one foul... players asking for one foul ref after splitting an opponent in the first 5 mins is balls. you don;t get one free kick at someone. thats nuts. a foul on 30 seconds is as bad as one at 93mins... stop avoiding sending guys off cos it only encourages kickers I just want to say that at every gorund with a big screen we see refs looking up at it and fans too. it is happening already (unofficially!)
Nah, not played in 10 years, knees went. Played for Crossgar, then for a very short time Down, Basically Senior 3 which is the lowest league a first team van be in in NI (7 junior, not in age group, league's after that with the first 3 arguably better than senior 3). Our system makes sense one way but not in others, senior 1& 2 have all the big teams, own the astros, 8 to10 teams, senior 3 is basically for the smaller clubs so that the big clubs don't fill top 3 league's with their first 5 teams lol. Played from Grass, to shale to astro. Don't know how long you played but see many things in footy going the way of hockey. More speed, more skill with physicality sacrificed. Better to watch not so much better to play at least at amateur level. Nothing beat the thrill of beating a keeper that could drive straight through you and the ball and it's your fault if he got you. Loved it though.
The game needs off field video assistance if it is to dramatically reduce the number of wrong calls made by referees A 5th official sat watching the live Sky feed & linked to the referee via a mic, could speak to him throughout the game & advise him if an incident required a closer look before giving a decision I.e a penalty, handball, violent conduct etc etc There's no reason barring referees egos & the fact that the world game is ruled by a pair of dinosaur morons in Blatter & Platini why this shouldn't be looked at trialled & then brought in once the best way of using it had been arrived at
The impact Fergie had is now hitting second stage. It's pretty much like when boy bands are you g and have all their decisions made for them. When the puppet master stops making those decisions, the puppet is ****ed! Grown boyband members start to lose the plot and get messed up, refs don't know what decisions to make and therefore make massive mistakes or none at all!
The ref for tomorrow’s FA cup match is Stuart Attwell. He’s not been in charge of a premiership game since 2011/12 and has covered 20, mainly Championship and League 1 games this season which have seen 5 penalties; he has issued 4 straight red cards, two second yellows and 64 yellow cards this season which, for 20 matches looks a little high. More info here
3 yellows per game is fine. Who knows what happened with the reds. So many referees bottle obvious red cards or second yellows so I'm fine with someone whose main target isn't being mates with the players like half the PL twaterees.
Agreed. As stats go though, there's a 1/4 chance of seeing a red card tomorrow. Given the kicking some of our players have been getting recently, it may be that someone who is not averse to handing one out, actually does.
Googled Stuart Attwell and found this article http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2009/mar/05/stuart-attwell-referees-premier-league Sounds promising
