Agree with most of this except i do not think rads will sell until the prem. Then his big gamble will have paid off. These guys are self driven and have big egos. This P. R. stuff is all a front too.
As for cooper ive never thought he was a good player. I wanted a quality mid plus a big defender and a target man. We got fast eddie but dont use him right. Bielsa is not that good a coach and believe he over trains the squad.

You lot really have it in for poor Cooper...

FFS, here we go again. Get rid of Cooper. Get rid of Kiko. Dallas useless as RB. No decent LB.

AND YET!!! We have conceded only 5 goals this season. Less than any other club. And with a playing style that seriously exposes the defence. And still people moan about this?

Most clubs would sign our defence up as a job lot in a heartbeat. The Baggies & PNE are in the top 6, yet conceded 10 each!!

Is logic being applied here? Or something more sinister?
Sinister.

Would you care to expand ?

Just think there has always been a minority amongst the fanbase who offer zilch in terms of actual support for the club. We're always expected to listen and accept they're views and opinions regardless of commitment or dedication on their part.

It's not that I mind people having a good moan but can someone explain how it's helpful to the players/club they purport to love. In fact if all you do is criticize, find fault with the players/coaches/management etc then I'll need someone to explain what form the support is taking. People often quote if you pay your money then your entitled to react as you see fit but I'm not seeing the moaning minis parting with much, if any of their hard earned cash either.

Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, it's a general comment and not necessarily about this forum and it's contributors.

I'm happy with all the outfield players in the squad and the way we play. The lack of goals is due imo to a lack of confidence. Once the confidence returns so will the goals.

My issue is with Casilla, he's hopeless. Doesn't have much to do but on the rare occasions he is called upon he invariably makes a hash of it. Every team we play seem to have a better keeper than us.

He keeps costing us points and he's got to go.

Sinister. Nope, can't fully articulate.

I'm using the term to describe that which I cannot understand. When there is irrefutable data & evident results, eked out by a genius coach, why should so many people believe they know so much better & criticise? That's a generality, but in this particular case we're discussing the best defence in the league, and people want to change it! There is no logic or sane deliberation that can reach this conclusion, but it doesn't stop them. 5 goals. That's all. Last season at this stage we'd conceded 40% more! And we were pleased with that. Why this expectation for perfection now? Sinister.

Getting totally sick of it to be honest, it seems unless we win every match and/or are streets ahead at the top of the league then there must be scapegoats.

Can't possibly be it's the most competitive league in the world, which is notoriously difficult to get out of.

What's the purpose of this kind of support ?

Or perhaps the question should be; is it support or a hinderance ?

The best defence in the division is being undermined by the worst goalkeeper. Can only assume he has a 'if fit must play' clause in his contract.

There's no doubt that he made a mistake yesterday. But mistakes happen.

How many others had mistakes leading up to the other goals?

How many mistakes are you allowed before being vilified?

There seems to be an expectation of mistake-free perfection. If such a player had to exist, we couldn't afford him.

(Btw, general questions, not aimed at you, LiE).

Kiko has in general been good so far this season.

It was a poor decision to punch, to his credit he got on with his game and didn't make any further errors.

He has strengths and weakness's in his game as every player does. It's clear he's been trying to adapt his game, last season for instance he would come out and go to ground early making it easier for the opponent. Now he's staying deeper but it means there is too much of the goal to cover when it's hit in the corner as against Derby. Also he's not come out of his area anywhere near as often as previously but still commands his box, is always wiling to take possession of the ball and distributes it well I would say.

Not sure what you mean by ' worst keeper ' ?

Is that currently at the club, in the league, in the world, or perhaps ever to play the game ?

Don't know if that was aimed at me?

My point is from a financial perspective. I hear Cooper is now on close to 20k a week. Preston might want him but can't afford his wages and Cooper isn't going to want to drop 10-15k a week to move. So we are stuck with him. Premiership clubs won't want him. That's fine, he is doing a decent job at the moment for us. Will he still be as good under a different manager?

Add in a few other big earners like Kiko who we probably couldn't give away due to wages. All I'm saying is we have to pay 15 million for Costa next summer and we might start struggling a bit financially.

I want this squad to go up playing the football we do. I believe they can. But what if they don't? Where are we left?
From what Ive seen from Costa he is nowhere near a £15 million player.

Thought he did ok yesterday Duke.

You would imagine he'd benefit massively from a run of games, he showed glimpses of the possibility of something rather than actually delivering and given it was his first league start I'm prepared to wait and see before passing further judgement.

I should think not

As it’s the ‘changes’ thread I thought I’d just say he’s the only one I would change. Not the outfield players, or the system, nor the coach.

Sorry Jammy, I forgot you’re the pedantic type. After saying ‘behind the best defence in the division is the worst goalkeeper’ I should have added ‘in the division’ just for your good self <doh>

Doesn't matter if he is or isn't worth 15 million. That's the bill we have to pay next summer. If we go up then it won't be an issue. If we fail to go up then where will that money come from?

Like I say, we've gone for it this season which is why there will be criticism if we lose games. The expectation levels are higher than any season since we dropped out of the Premier league. In a way, that's a testament on how things have improved over the last couple of years.

We have a fantastic team playing fantasy football but with that comes expectation. If we lose games, questions will be asked.

How can I put this?

Hmmm .... if Bielsa felt the need to make a defensive change, Kiko would be the one I'd be least upset about. :)

He might be great next week Jammy, but he wasn't yesterday.

Was being mildly supportive rather than consigning to the scrapheap...

Others however may not have my patience.

I have - but he wasn't great yesterday.

Maybe an option to blood the French wonderkid to help Kiko refocus?

We wanted BPF to push him last year, Meslier must be an option now, and a game out might be a kick on the arse he needs.
