It's funny I would have said that our last promotion team were a better 'team' but the current squad are better players. I do think that they will rise to the challenge and become a more unified force in the face of such adversity and become a better team overall. The promotion can act as a huge bonding event if the nucleus of the side remains intact and we don't throw mega dosh at prima donnas.
Well said. We need to make some additions to our squad (especially up front) but we have a handful of players in the team already who are capable of playing in the premier league for a club of our stature.
I still blame Phil Brown for our descent into rubbish. Cousin was a decent player but playing him as a lone striker was madness. Playing Geo on the left wing and dropping Myhill was equally as bad. Let's not get started on the naughty step. Phil Brown wont last long as manager of Southend and it wont be because England come calling!
To be fair Charlie Nicholas is ok and normally gets his assessments about right. The likes of Le Tiss - Merson - Cottee - Tony Gale are just thick southern muppets. Phil Thompson is special needs so he does not count. Jeff is a monkey hanging Hartlepool fan so you have to be kind and gentle with him. Lol
