Well he must be really thick then, because only last week he claimed to not know who collects the rent for ER!!
I'm going to Spain on hols in four weeks with my family of wife and three girls aged 13 to 23 and two manure boyfriends. My Leeds jersey with Bremner emblazoned on back will be worn to death. No prob though cos were a Leeds house here in Ireland and my girls know exactly what Leeds united is all about
Well, 20,000 of them anyway (at L1 level), what happened to the other 25,000ish that used to go watch you? Norwich in historical terms might be a lesser club (as mentioned by somebody here) but we also ended up in L1 and still sold out our 27,000 seater stadium every week. I know the numbers for us are smaller, we can only get 27,000 in! but the support was totally loyal. Our attendances actually increased when the club needed it most (due to extra seats being put into the stadium!)
I think the loyalty and passion is key for me. Even during our relegations and fire-sales of players and assets and points deductions the fans stayed with the club and attendances hardly wavered. Even with an idiot like Bates in charge the fans stay loyal and keep turning out to support the club and team, and I'm proud to be part of that. I also love the fact that we usually have players who want to play for the shirt, and while they may not be the most talented, the make up for a lack of skill with determination and committment. We will lose games, but as long as the guys on the pitch give 100% I'm happy... This may seem obvious, but look around the Premiership today, and how many clubs have players who actually want to be playing for that shirt? Fine, it's a job, and these guys have to look after themselves and their families, but I think Leeds give something more than that... I remember once watching a Chelsea game at ER, and Smith cleared a shot off the line, having beaten the keeper. His clearance sparked a counter-attack (those were the days!) and he was the one who got a shot off at the other end, having sprinted the length of the pitch to join the attack. Goes without saying that the shot was crap, of course, but you get my point... Anyway, that's my two-pence worth... Marching on Together!
Im proud to say, I have supported my local club through the highs of the european "dream" and the lows of Yoevil but no matter what ive still been there and supported the lads who where on the field Im proud of the fellow supporters and the brilliant way you can spot a Leeds fan a mile off and a quick salute will deffo put a smile on your face ALL Emotional
With respect, can supporters of other clubs **** off please? The thread's called what makes you proud to be a Leeds fan. I'm not going to delete any of your comments, but you're kind of disrupting the topic. Foggo, have you ever heard of ticket prices? And seen ours in relation to yours?
Kenny,by the time we ended up in L1 we were still paying premiership prices under Bates, amongst the highest in the country, & in these times of financial hardship a lot of people had to be more picky as to which games to go & watch.so bit of an unfair comparison. Its a lot cheaper to get into Carrow Road!
If you sold out your 27,000 every week in league one surely that would mean you got 27,000 average but you didn't tool, If Bates opened the upper east we would get even more in
We can't control the number of tickets taken in the away end. 25,000 seats available to Norwich fans were all taken 99% of the time. As for the other comments made here, yes, I will now leave this thread (although I thought this was a discussion forum for ALL fans? Iread a post I did not agree with and responded that's all). Prices are too high everywhere, but to lose over half your support is not just down to that. You're still paying those prices but supporters are starting to come back now you are being more successful! As for the sister comment, sad...
It's ok Liw, I honestly believe that you will not be hurting much longer. Leeds will regain their prem status soon enough and you will have your nice full stadium back. It has been nice playing, but I have work to do (and I did promise to leave this thread.). Laters.
You really are stupid then Y quote that you sold out your 27 thousand seater every week then, You lot are decent fans but your nothing like Leeds fans but then again no1 is
That's why I said I wouldn't delete any comments. Comment, debate, create freely. I'd just rather you left the thread because it's inevitably detracting from the original topic. I can't force you to do that.
*sigh* you didn't sell out. The only times you sold out were those few games u had 26500. In the Championship, that was twice. If you think 25000 out of 27000 is a sell out then you need to return to school and learn your maths. You can tell a sell out because it's within 1000 or 500 seats of your capacity usually. 2000 off your capacity is not a sell out, which you'd have seen if you had more seats.
I'm not proud to be a Leeds fan, why should I be. I'm proud to be a father to 2 great kids and proud to be married to the greatest woman I have ever met, I'm proud of my nieces and nephews for what they have achieved and I'm proud to be Scottish. I support Leeds United (it just happened) and I go to games to watch them, that's it. Proud is the wrong word, I would suggest "loyal" may be more appropriate, as we still seem to be around after all the ****e we have thrown at us and continue to receive.
