I would guess that most clubs playing us in a league or cup match treat us with respect. That's one way to measure a club.

To answer the original question it is financial turnover, which to great extent is dictated by success. However, that is not necessarily what makes a great club, which is dictated by so many other things, including history.

Have you noticed how fascinated Pompey fans have become with history? Really impressed with how intellectual they have become.

Yes, but Pompey came very close to becoming history so you can understand the fixation!!!

    Honours are all that matter.

All Manure fans are worried about is eclipsing Liverpool's number of titles and European cups. Neither club fans give one jot about attendances. Circumstances have left us with a stadium that can currently hold about 20,000. You have a newish stadium, flatpack and cheap though it is, it will hold up to 32,000. So currently you will always have the bigger attendances. Check your history though and you will see a very different picture.
LD, don't give me that Southern League garbage. You can twist it all you like but history does'nt lie and that's the one thing you cannot compete with us on.

No, it's the future that matters. I hope for your sake your owners are more forward looking than you.

We'd have higher attendances if we were still at the dell! you can't say anything about you not getting as big gates as us because of your capacity because you don't fill it up at 20,000!

The future is important but it's a clubs history that is more so. <doh>

Who knows whats around the corner? What happens if the Leibherr family get bored of a project not of their making?

I'm dead proud to be a Pompey fan because of our illustrious history. Who knows whats coming but whatever it is, I'll still be there because I support a famous old club with HISTORY.

Question- Can u name the 5 clubs who have won back to back league titles since the war? I'll give you a clue with one of them....

Yes, Portsmouth once had a good football team 60 years ago, how the hell is that relevant to today?. All we heard about these last couple of years is "League One hoofball blah blah", "4-1 blah blah"...now we have caught up and look to have a brighter future, it's back to the old history argument i've been hearing from Pompeys fans at work for years. I can gracefully accept that Pompey have won more, can you accept that our supporters are more loyal, our ground is much better and our future looks very bright?

Your ground is a flatpack soulless bowl just the same as a dozen others constructed on the cheap.

God forbid we ever end up with a place like that.

FFD........Don't you think it sad that so many Pompey fans have to cling on to a piece of history that happened more than 60 years ago. Trying to compare the league back then to the league today and trying to make out you have a proud history......Tell that to the suppliers to your club over the years that lost money each of the four times you went broke. That piece of history cannot be overlooked either, Just as ours can't. You carry on being proud of your ****hole down there but I would suggest you rally round and get a few more fans to visit your run down dump and talk about old times, because if you don't you won't have a club to talk about in the not too distant future.

Adam. You may have been founded in 1885 but what has been going on since then? Not much really.

Made a bit of history in 1976 and were fortunate enough to come across a lost geordie who set you up for a decent run in the top flight for a while, but it was never going to last after flirting with relagation on an annual basis- let's face it, the guernsey fat lad kept you up on his own for about 3 seasons!

Adam, you just don't get it do you. It's not what it looks like. Who gives a toss about what it looks like? It's the atmosphere it can generate. <doh>
