If the Capital One cup is won by, and the FA Cup Final is contested by two sides in the top four then 7th would be a Europa Spot - within your reach by the looks of it
The fans would be interested in a Europa spot, but Pochettino has already said that he is not interested. Says Europa football is a reward for failure. Cortese would say that there is no money in it.
I can say with a great deal of confidence that we definately won't finish below 8th place, but really, based on performances against the top 7 clubs in the past year we are VERY competitive with them and they have good reason to show us a great deal of respect. It wouldn't be a completely massive shock to me if we finish in the top 4 but I think it more likely that we will finish 5th-8th. Time is on our side and the club will continue to become more successful with a possible chance of a cup win too, but the best thing at the moment is the sheer pride I feel each time Saints are praised for it's Academy, young English talent and exciting style of play, we have shaken off the negativity and bad press of 5 years ago to become a lot of other fan's "second club". COYS!
Really, every sensible parent in the country should be busting a gut to get their little prodigy into the Saints Academy, thereby giving us the pick of all of England's best players for evermore
I'd only take fourth or higher. I'd rather come 6th than 5th. I think we'll come 7th this season and Everton 8th as they don't score enough goals.
Frankly, I'll accept wherever we finish. There are places I'd LIKE us to be. Financially I'd love us to be first, very much like us to be top four, quite like top six and be OK with top ten. That's on a sliding scale of betting winnings. I'd really, really, really like us to be top four, if only because I don't see what we've done so far as a flash in the pan. At the end of last season I was banging on about how our second half of the season form would have had us top six or so and I feel we've significantly improved since then. Vin
I said at the start of the season that we will get top half. And I am keeping to that as I don't expect us to keep this form up
Few teams keep winning all the time, but losing a couple of games doesn't mean total collapse. I think we would soon recover our composure because the team have total belief in Mauricio and his methods.
I'd be slightly disappointed with anything lower then 8th, I'd be very disappointed if we don't finish in the top 10. I think we will finish 7th and that would represent a good solid season with a real progress made ready to push on for next season.
If any of Shaw, Boruc, Lovren, Clyne, Lallana or Lambert are out for any length of time then we will struggle to stay in the top half IMO.
I hope you realise if you keep this good spell up for much longer the likes of Lallana and Pochettino won't be around at Southampton
Eighth and above would be a pretty damned good result. I'm open to suggestions about how far above eighth it could be.
