From memory my Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy says that if I allow someone else to drive my car, that person will only be covered for the minimum legal requirement, ie Third Party.

If that's the case, even IF she agreed he could have the car, the Insurance company wouldn't have to pay out.

    Have I got that right??

All I know about insurance is that they are delighted to have your business, but always reluctant to pay out.

She didn't agree he could take it, he took it without her knowing.

Not sure myself on age, but if she was unaware he had taken the car that should be less complicated for her and will come down to the driver and what the CPS decide on Police evidence l would imagine.

Kind of. But if you have comprehensive insurance and a named driver drives the car, they are fully comp insured. If a non named driver drives the car with your consent and their own fully comp insurance, they are covered third party only. If someone drives the car without consent, irrespective of their own car insurapolicy, they have no insurance at all.
