Paterson was paraded at half time in the Villa game. He made his debut from the bench in the next game. In the 11 Championship matches since (he was cup tied for the League Cup games) he has started 8 of them. That sounds pretty regular to me
Not a name that goes on the sheet week in,week out though is it. Bringing in players in my opinion means better that already here,the majority do not play under LJ. Players for the future he says. Priority is our first team,playing regular football,clearly weak links in defence,and striker positions.
Well he's started more games than O'Neil in that period. The likes of O'Dowda, Moore, Brownhill, Engvil, Johnny Smith and De Girolama are all under 21 and players for the future . Even Paterson is 24 so not exactly over the hill, Magnusson is 23. The future of our club is looking very exciting thanks to the purchases of our current manager. If only people would let him get on with it and stop looking for the quick fix to success.
Unfortunately that is what us football fans want,our team playing too the highest possible standards,in the best leagues in the world,with the best possible players. Clearly we have a ground worthy of the prem,clearly our crowds have shown a huge increase,we just need a team to fill Ashton Gate. That is down to the owners, and management team to put together. I think a lot of us are seeing a fall from the giddy heights at the season start,which is such a shame. i hope we can hang on in there until January, when we can bring the quality needed to mount a play-off place. Time will tell.
Actually its what you want. A lot of us can see the bigger picture and can see we are building towards those goals in a future we can then sustain.
Unfortunately the bigger picture has been seen around Ashton Gate for far too long and the chance of it coming to fruition in my lifetime disappeared in to the fog long ago. Sad but true.
Been waiting a long long time now for a return to the top flight. Apart from GJs Wembley play off final,and Cotts double what have this underachieving football club done since ADs return to the top flight.
Blackpool Swindon Charlton Oldham Portsmouth have all had top flight football since the last time we were there. I much rather be in our boat than theirs. We need to build a club that will stay there once we get there and not follow the same quick fix brigade. Three years ago we were in the league one relegation zone. We are now in the top half of The Championship. That's progress and people are still moaning and trying to run before we can walk
