I think it's becoming increasingly clear that Rafa owes a gambling debt to Ashley and is being forced to stay to be a mouthpiece for Charnley's lies via press interviews and public talk-ins. Underneath this sexy Spaniard's charming smile, class behaviour, and shining beacon of humanity lies a troubled gambling addict.
I think another thing that's had a massive negative impact that we're only just starting to see the effects of is the huge clubs hoovering up decent talent. Once upon a time you used to find a good sprinkling of youngsters at the likes of Le Havre, Bordeaux, Twente, Hoffenheim, and these kinds of clubs but now as soon as they look half decent they're snapped up by City or Chelsea. These big clubs have no need or interest in selling these players on, they ultimately don't give a toss what happens if they don't quite work out, the investment is small. It's mirrored in my industry - new technology used to come out, build a customer base then be bought by big players like Symantec, Microsoft or CA for 100's of millions of bucks. Friend of mine recently joined a startup, they were bought by Symantec for considerably less way before they had a decent customer base - because Symantec spending £10m on something that may or may not work is infinitely more sensible than spending £500m on something that's probably being bought by the same customers anyway.
I'm not that confident with the thought of buying a marquee signing. We'd need to take care. The next Michael Owen could be the unfortunate result - a player getting paid a fortune who just doesn't want to be here, or work. I don't think anyone here is saying anything about our survival chances with any degree of certainty. But we're not the same relegation team and have a better manager from the start.
Aye I watched Silicon Valley and it was essentially what you've described there. Think you're spot on, all these rough little diamonds are already sat in the academies of citeh, Chelski, united, arsenal, Liverpool and spurs. Best we can hope for now is an Everton/Southampton scenario where you pretty much create your own. Aside from that you're looking at a Vardy/Mahrez/kante type which all sounds good but how often has that come off? Even Leicester had to pay silly money once they got sussed (like we did around tiote/Ben arfa/cabaye era) Someone had their pants down on Slimani a year later
I am planning on having sex with my Mrs tonight and am willing to sell the rights on the potential baby to Mike Ashley for 10K. He will obviously be a future star with my footballing pedigree and the fact that wife's Sister's husband used to play for Indonesia. The only way we are going to beat the Chelsea's of this world is to get in early. Windy - can you pass this message onto him?
I've had a word with Mike and he says he is interested as long as you can provide video evidence that you carry out the act and don't get a servant to do it for you. He also says he wants the proof in HD quality.
That's another one he won't get over the line then - he is always trying these low ball offers. He can have the Mrs but a tub of my product is worth a lot more than that.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ton-close-Newcastle-starlet-Lewis-Gibson.html This is disastrous if true. How the fck are Everton able to do so?
What an absolute joke this would be by the club if allowed to happen. He should be in our first team squad next year. He is already better than what we have on the limited viewing I've seen of him.
Surely we don't need to sell him? So why is this happening (if true) We really need to be keeping our future talent for our club, not selling off our prized possessions. When was the last time we had a young talent coveted by other clubs. This smacks of mismanagement again.
I would guess we have no option. If Gibson is wanting to go we probably won't be able to stop him as we won't have a contract as such etc. Can't imagine we are voluntarily selling a 16yo.
We're probably trying to negotiate a deal to get Woodman off the books, so sorting out the terms of a two for one. Heaven forbid we have any sort of plan.
