With each passing day I'm moving more to the belief we're simply going down and should enjoy the season as best we can. If we had got in a few established or at least potential players by now to train and get up to speed for the start of the season then I'd have more confidence but that just doesn't seem like happening. Atsu - good quality but inconsistent and not enough about him to produce in the Premiership (just ask Bournemouth) Lejeune - a cheap but able CB. Good cover but from what I've seen I'm not expecting much I know there's time to bring in more and we surely will but I'm not convinced by many of the names and there's no point bringing them in mid to late August and starting the season on the back foot. There's 38 games and we need every opportunity to get 38 points, I have a sinking feeling we wont be up to speed until September and that even then our up-to-speed probably isn't good enough. Oh well.

I think there might be a lot of activity late in this window I'm general. Basically everyone is trying it on because of the ridiculous money some clubs are paying nowerdays. When they realise that they can't necessarily get way over the odds there will suddenly be a drop in prices and the transfer market will start moving. there is a lot of game playing at the moment trying to push up fees for agents and selling clubs. You can bet these wide boy agents are telling all the club owners I'll get you 30m+ no bother.
I'm starting to think Charnley is building a list of players who nearly signed rather that filling the squad with new signings.
I'd personally like to see:- Jacob Murphy Ryan Sessegnon Loftus-Cheek Hernandez Reina Won't happen though.
Loftus-Cheek is off to Palace apparently. I have a feeling Rafa might walk in the next couple of weeks. Just nothing positive about any transfers coming out. It takes us about 5 weeks sort out any transfer.
Was just thinking how I've heard from every manager this summer....bar one. The Murphy one seems the most telling. "We'll give you £8m. No? Well we tried our best." Someone in geordie medialand needs to ask the question "who the fck is Justin Barnes."
