We need to relax and enjoy Rafa's final season at Newcastle United.

We'll stay up, nay bother, but after that when Rafa moves on to an ambitious club, then we are back to square one and the usual uncertainty.

Newcastle United will never compete in Europe again. Not with Mike Ashley as owner.

The only way is down after this season.

I have never suggested that we should be buying the top talent in football.

I said that Mike Ashley will always sell the player if he likes the offer.

    That's it.

It is a bit pessimistic to post like this even before the season has started, however I understand your concern regarding Ashley. How,for example, does he value the club at 350 mil? is this the amount he needs to re-coup his investment,or has he built a notional profit into this figure?

Amanda Stavley is an experienced negotiator, for it was she that brokered the Man City takeover so presumably she will know the figure that she can sell to her investors. That aside, if and until, a deal is brokered you are stuck with Ashley. This does not mean that you are doomed. To say that Newcastle will never compete in Europe AGAIN is defeatist- yes it will not happen in the near future, even with a new owner and good management you are looking at a ten year plan

I suspect your frustration is built on the lack of activity in the transfer market and, to that extent, we at Fulham share your frustration. No further progress on the Mitrovic situation, and now we are in negotiations to buy Jean Serie from Nice. Fat chance! - and your interest in Alassane Plea from the same club seems to have subsided, perhaps both players will end up at Dortmund.

As far as the coming season goes I reckon we would both consider a top ten finish as a good result.

We qualified for the Europa League under Pardew by finishing 5th. Did Mike Ashley invest in a bigger squad to help the club progress?
Did he at least improve the quality of the squad for the following European campaign?

    No.
The ONE time we had the club with some genuine momentum and Ashley stood still.

I have been watching and listening to Mike Ashley (or at least his actions) for TEN years.
He will not change who he is or how he acts.

To my mind, Newcastle United finished 4th in our league. The top six are a league between themselves.

Rafa has just about peaked with where he can take this club with the finance available.

It's not pessimistic, but more a learned realism under this regime.

    Manuel Pellegrini
    Jack Wilshere - Free
    Ryan Fredricks - Free
    Lukasz Fabianski - £7.2m
    Andriy Yarmolenko - £18m
    Issa Diop - £22.5m
    Felipe Anderson - £40m

Wet Spam's Summer so far. Not sure how we're supposed to be "happy" with Dubravka basically staying and Free Sung-Yueng. At the moment it's a bit like "what was the point?".

It's alright, we've got a whole 30 days to go. Lightnin' Lee will soon start snapping 'em up.

For instance, we've been linked today with the legendary Jonathan Kodjia of Aston Villa....

Cynicism will soon evaporate once you make a marquee signing - and you will. The article below is from the Mirror so it must be true! I don't believe a word of it but the point is it uplifts spirits

Fulham are closing in on the £35million signing of Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri.

Newly-promoted Fulham have agreed to meet the Ivory Coast international's release clause and the deal is expected to be concluded by the weekend.

Seri attracted interest from a host of clubs across Europe, but Fulham acted swiftly to secure the 26-year-old, whose release clause is understood to expire on Sunday.

The cultured midfielder will become the Whites' first signing of the summer if the south-west London club can get the deal over the line.

Fulham currently have the smallest squad in the Premier League, and parted company with right-back Ryan Fredericks in June, with the former Tottenham star putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with West Ham.

Right. So we've managed to spend over two days doing a medical for Kenedy. A player we had on the books two months ago, who presumably passed a medical in January. And he's only being signed to replace the departed.....Kenedy.

Well, I've heard of one of them. And with no transfer fees stated, what is your point? Quality, not quantity - making signing is not a numbers game. Can everyone not just judge it after the transfer window had closed rather than getting aggro over nothing?

****ing hell, was the username "free-dor" taken?! Give what a rest? My disappointment at the transfer activity? My disillusionment at the club?
