Looks like the deal for Mitro with Fulham might be going through now at £20m. Happy with this. We might have been able to get a bit more but at least it should allow us to start spending. https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...0m-aleksandar-mitrovic-transfer-a3889906.html
Little bit on the consistency of Ashley’s lies: https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...ictions-heart-mike-ashleys-newcastle-14928479
Or maybe not. What is it with your board of directors? How is loaning out the player for a season going to generate funds to support your sell to buy policy? I suspect we are as much to blame. In the meantime Fulham and Newcastle supporters are in limbo - as is the player. What a dog's breakfast! please log in to view this image Turkish outlet Takvim have reported somewhat of a transfer twist surrounding the future of Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, as the report claims he is nearing a season-long loan move to Fenerbahce. The 23-year-old was believed to be closing in on a £20million permanent move to Fulham, after starring with the west Londoners during the second half of last season - 12 goals in 17 Championship outings.
Anything from Turkish media relating to NUFC should be taken with a huge pinch of salt. They always drop our name into transfers but I can't remember the last time we did any deal with anyone in Turkey tbh.
Anyone think the contract reports are a bit odd? Strong claims that Benitez was offered a FIVE year deal when his current one ends early in the Summer. When he rebuffed, it's alleged they came back with a ONE year EXTENSION instead. I didn't think much of it at first, plus it's not official, but if it were to be true, is something ACTUALLY afoot at SJP? Just to say, Rafa has also namechecked Justin Barnes for the first time ever (during the Ireland interview). Barnes is essentially the asset-stripping bloke Ashley brings in to sort out acquisitions/sales. It's probably just Mike's way of micro-managing the money/Charnley, but could it be there's a little bit more to it? Or is this Olympic-standard straw-grasping?
I hope you are right, but there is always an exception to the rule. The worry is that Newcastle my be holding out for around the 30mil that has been touted. It's generally accepted down here that 20mil is the maximum that Fulham will go to - any more would be a deal breaker. This creates a problem for both clubs,we because we are missing out on a player with a physical presence, an you by missing out on needed transfer funds. There is another problem. If Mitrovic does go to Turkey on a years loan there would be the summer transfer window 2019 and the winter window 2020 to try to sell the player. By then the vultures will be circling and the value of the player will diminish or - worst case scenario - no offers will materialise, and he will leave on a free transfer. Would that be acceptable to Ashley?
Mikey has a smoking six shooter gun in his hand and he only has one toe left but he has two bullets left.
I noticed Barnes name being mentioned in the interview. The whole thing was very deliberate by Rafa to tell the fans and the world what is going on behind closed doors. Barnes seems to be there to fatten the goose for market - you just have to hope there is someone willing to pay the price, although the money that should be available for recruitment will hopefully be used to offset the price Ashley wants if it's not being spent on players and new facilities.
Fans of other clubs genuinely think we’re competently run. Probably why we fans get derided so much. I’d love to see an org chart of every other PL and Championship club. The Ashley mirage is nothing short of miraculous.
A board meeting at NUFC involves Lee Charnley sitting in a cubicle having a **** and reading the cartoon strips in the Sun.
I checked 10 other clubs and they all had at least 5 directors (maybe some others have fewer). Surely it shouldn't be called "directors" if there's only actually one of them but I guess the Premiership didn't consider that was a thing.
You could go through the leagues and find the same. Salford City have more. Ashley can and will do wtf he wants
It would appear that we have fewer hangers-on, sorry. Directors than other clubs, draining much needed funds.
I suspect that at many clubs the marketing directors work to sell the club to other countries brings in more money than they are paid. Usually jobs like that are bonus incentivised, it's been a massively growing market in the past decade - we just seemingly haven't bothered even trying to be a part of it.
Mike doesn’t need a bunch of muppets masquerading as useful. He just does it all himself. I think they call it hands on.
