I can see what he was doing with that midfield. Rodwell was our big signing, he was going to offer goals and bursting runs from midfield, I can understand why he was given the advanced role against Fulham, seemingly a good chance for him to get himself going. Obviously that didn't work, and Gus has to take responsibility for that, and he has. But I definitely can see the idea behind it.
My biggest fear is that our team seem to have forgotten how to take the game to other teams. Burnley look full of energy at the moment and I must admit watching the past few games I would bet on them for the result at the moment. We just look too easy to read and I fear that other than counter attacking I can't see how we get goals.

I don't, he's blatantly not an attacking midfielder. His late runs were an added perk when playing as a DM at Citih and Everton. You need more than darting runs to be an Attacking player. Square peg round whole with two perfect fits unused on the bench as far as I'm concerned. Seems like Gus is clutching here, hoping to stumble on a magic formula without even trying the obvious first. Rodwell is DM as far as I can see, his best performance of the season was as a DM against City, the only match he's looked remotely comfortable. We don't need 3 DMs, he's looking like the wrong signing to me.
Think Rodwell could play CM easily, you're right though, he isn't an AM. Gus tried and it didn't work, we won't see it again. Giacc did play vs Leeds, and didn't impact the game, can see why he didn't play. Think he would work well in a midfield two with Seb, with Giacc or Alvarez in front of him.
