I only had those thoughts the other day , if can find an old tape im just going to hand it to my 10 year old daughter and see if she can work out what it is
Yes in my research I saw this. Oklahoma have been dominant recently. It's hard getting the head round the divisions; then possible play offs; then with the southern states the bowl or final they play/ get invited (depending on finish) to and then even after that might not get "voted" national & THEN even if they do the college decides wether it's worthy to be official! Even been reading up on the play book. Always had the basics but you can only love a sport if you know what's about to happen! So Bluff; are you a typical American(just realised all the"yank " jokes aren't Maybe not the best with a Southerner lol. By that I mean you seem to have travelled a lot. Is that normal within the US?
not at all man, and I am in the region where there is a definite split, you have some yank types mixed in with Southern confederate types. ( Mind the old Southern Confederate states, have a look at the flag, should look familiar to something and the big ties that area has with its European ancestor.) But not many people travel outside of the country and I have travelled with footy to Mexico 2x, Brazil 2x, Spain, Gibralter, Germany ( was a lay-over but still was there!). It is another reason I love the game so much, I wouldn't have been able to do all of that without it. Brazil the first time sas the best as I got to see Diego Ribas, Robinho, Ricardinho, Leo ( who played for Benfica). Got to play against Guarani and also the beaches of Santos were tremendous. In terms of spectical awe was Madrid, the Bernabeu, I can;t remember the name but a famous square that we were in. Mexico City sucked but Monterrey was awesome and played against some top sides and met some Mexican Internationals whilst there. The yank stuff doesn't bother me, just funny how if you said that in the southern states you might get beat up as that would be an insult instead of a "term".
Ha! That's what I meant: "yank" casual general reference here, mortal insult there depending on latitude lol. Yeah, I know the feeling. Sport gave me the opportunity to travel places I would not as a working class (not fist pumping politically here) have been able to from my background. Between Hockey, climbing & generally with the Cadets, otherwise I would not have made it past the front gate of the houses I lived in ( ironically I moved just as much very young through the Parents) With them;Various Mainland Europe, Asia but (maybe that's my fascination) NOT North America.(yet) My next Mission is doing a Husky race in Canada (sorry!) just got to get the knee and back up for it lol.
Tough Mudder in Nashville in May, gearing up for that, going to be good. On topic, Do you think we will appeal at all or will we just let it lie?
Agger? Don't think so. One match versus 2-3?? for the silly appeal thing? Not a bad scenario to prove how much we might need or not need a replacement should he be sold/ get injured. I still think out weakness is in the cover/competition of fullbacks & a fowler type striker.
Ya, LB especially for me, and midfielder for me as well, a bit more steel though, we have two players who can tick the ball around but how will they do when they go against giants such as Diame and Diarra for example? Just good to have another option as well, like we did with Sissoko, Mascher, Alonso. Gerrard, all very different.
Yes; I said it before; doesn't need to be world class yet. We just need to present enough problems to premier league teams to win each match. At the minute whether it's (4-4-2 or 4-3-3) teams know 2 things about us at the mo.we'll come at you trying to win. We don't know what to do if it doesn't work... You're a coach; you can't without incredible luck jump from mediocre to league winning just by bringing in good players. Not without a great deal of luck.it takes time, work luck & balls. I just despair that there's just enough spoilt brats as fans that will never allow any manager time to build, make mistakes but build a league winning team. Hope I'm wrong. Maudlin bugger I'm being
I love that we want to play footy and want to do this and that, but I am also a believer in what do you have at your disposal, how can you mold it together and make it work the best that it can UNTIL you can get all of your players in to make it work, so yes keep the ball moving etc but if we are better at say getting our full backs up then lets make that we use them to the fullest effect to produce proper width. Still really miffed about getting PLAYERS IN THE BOX, we cross it to one person in the box..... Suarez, who still managed to miss two open headers but he is what 5'7? at least with numbers in there if he cant score it he can lay it back to someone. With that being said on players, we do need to get good caliber players, it doesn't matter if they are worth 3 million ( michu) or 25 mil (Hazard) they have to be able to give the team what it is missing and effectively. Downing was bought for Carroll and neither of them seem to be working, 55 million down the drain it seems. Imagine what we could get with 55 mil? Michu (3), Ba ( 7), Cabaye (5), Marin (7), Czorla (15). Just wish the money was spent better and not rashly, and our scouts did their homework and got the gems in. Assaidi is hopefully the start of that.
Ok, I honestly don't know yet. We get to the point that we almost assume we bought the wrong players every year. I'll write this season off (& next) if BR really is strong enough to systematically build a team stage by stage to achieve the goals because I think that's what it will take That doesn't let them away with not spending cash & searching for the best players but I fear we'll never allow the base to learn first. That being said I know there's 4 players that don't care or just can't do it no matter who the manager is.
I hear ya and I know we need to wait a bit say on Allen, Borini, Hendo, Shelvey, Sterling, to a point Carroll. The problem with half of these is the fee and that is what gets everyones panties in a twist ( mine too at times) If they are working hard, want to be here, trying to learn, then fair enough they have age on their side and can become great or at least useful to us. But Adam, Downing, Cole are 3 that should go and go ****ing quickly. I think BR really likes Downing though but still possibly a chance that Cole could go after that lame **** he pulled today. Carroll can possibly be on that list. With Llorente buy out clause being 36 million it just makes you wonder a bit "what if". It is what it is though and I won't stop supporting and giving them time, even if I vent my frustrations, I want them to come go and be what we think they can be. It just sucks thinking ( again hypothetically etc) if Rafa had that money it wouldnt have been Pennent, but Simao, not Voronin, but Jovetic, not Aqua, but Banega and the list could go on. But that is old ****, we are in a new era and we have to work to fix this. I for one and am glad we have City, United, and Arsenal/Chelsea coming up back to back as some wins against those teams could really boost the confidence.
Well, I agree with all that ^^ mate. I think we were spoilt. Win too many & there's a false belief that it's easy to replicate. I honestly don't think some very genuine, very loyal fans realise just how hard it is to win that league. Especially now. Hell, how hard it is to come 4th lol.... I just, very simply want to see good footie from us, the rest will follow.
Agreed, but let's not talk about 09 heartbreaking stuff that! I don't doubt we will play good stuff, just think that once we get the finishing/finisher it could be a different story for us but that still seems to be aloof. :/
And now... I can't like you... Sorry, just unwritten law. Michigan Wolverines fans and Notre Damn fans can't be friends... And on the topic of the game, we didn't deserve three. The first one, yes. The two penalties and one red card in a minute, complete and utter bullshit. The third came from us down a man, plus Carragher in the back (they were beating us with peed, so he couldn't do much.) Now, I'm not saying we deserved to lose, of course we did with that display. 1-0, maybe two. But never three nil.
As with Ivanovic, Agger let himself get beat, he then gave hte lino\ref an "Opporunity" to give a penalty and a red even if he didn't shove him over he allowed Long to give the impression he was shoved, ref sees arm go up and long go down. We know what happened but Agger raised his arm make it look even to me like he leaned into the back of long, to the side sort of.. but for me he was a fookin tool for letting Long into that position. Expect this sort of thing in a complete system overhaul.. what did ye expect in tough competitive games early on The second was never a penalty, skrtel was already going for the ball when Long nipped in, if a defender does that to a forward when he's shooting its a free\pen to the forward.. silly rules eh. I will say that if Skrtel was "Aware" of the player he just had to shift his body slightly to block him off and take the ball. Redi and Long went down easy all game and got every fookin free Officials were not friendly yesterday regardless of the above
