Because in this point its important to have actual facts. You said Arry is better because he will stay in the Prem longer. Now thats all based on assumptions. Hence your point as a whole fails. Even that point is rubbish. Why does staying in the prem make you a better manager? Jose left, is Arry better then him now?
Hod, clearly we will just have to agree to disagree on this matter, clearly we all have our biases, I find it hard to believe that any true neutral fan from another club would agree that redknapp is better than wenger, especially based on the arguments you put forward, sometimes people just need to try and not be to biased, however I am sticking to my views that wenger is a superior manager based on his achievements thus far.
And exactly what resources are we talking about here? A net spend of 16m in 15 years, most championship clubs have spent far more than that, if you're talking about the wage bill that has only gone up in the last 5 years since we moved to the new stadium. Spurs have spent far more on transfers than arsenal in the last 10 years. And you appear to be backtracking, you clearly did state that redknapp was better than wenger, I know it's only you opinion, I just think your being very biased.
Good, grief. Also you need to get back to the actual truth. Arsenal where not in superb shape when Arsene came. Vieira,Petit and Anelka. Three names for you.
it does'nt work like that though. Even barca with the best acdemy in world football realise that to be the best you have to balance your squad with world class players in the areas you are weakest. They buy players like David Villa, Sanchez, Fabregas to give their squads balance and depth. This is what wins you trophies. We dont do that even when are squad has massive obvious weaknesses.
1) When Wenger joined Arsenal was mid table with an ageing defence. 2) Name these players you claim Arsene has developed. In the 15 years he has been with us his success stories are ... who ? 3) How can Redknapp be a better manager than Wenger, seriously? I am happy to admit that at this moment Redknapp is, but overall, Redknapp has not done anything to usurp Wenger's greatness. 4) Wenger is tactically rubbish, absolutely rubbish.
Is there seriously a wenger vs redknapp discussion going on in here I think its very difficult to compare managers because what the achieve is very much down to a number of factors such as size of club, resources etc! Moyes is regarded as a good manager but that opinion is not based on what he has won. Redknapp has done wonders for the club since he joined but to start comparing him to Wenger who has been at your club for a very long time is ludicrous! If Redknapp had been spurs manager for the last 15 years then that would be different
You're right friend. It is not possible to compare Arsene and 'Arry for the reason you mentioned. I think though a discussion could be entered into in respect of comparing the performance of the managers in terms of what they did what what they had. Now that might make this a very long thread. In recent times though a case could be made for 'Arry making more out of what he had or perhaps didn't have. I doubt though if he would stay 15 years at N17 or wherever the club may eventually be located. Spurs do not have a history of keeping their managers for very long ( you have to go back to Keith Burkinshaw in the 70s/80s for anyone staying beyond a five year stretch ) and apart from his first two appointments at Bournemouth and Upton Park, Ole' 'Arry hasn't stayed long at his clubs either.
I'd go along with that but do you think Arsene ( or Arsenn as Gazidis calls him ) can get better or like he once was again?
Let us stop this Wenger - Redknapp nonsense. Otherwise tomorrow you will be arguing with HIAG about who was a better striker - Crouch or Henry.
Crouch all the way Personally I think there is more going on behind the scene. Has he really got the backing of the board to splash the cash on new signings? I personally don't think it is a coincidence that the club have not been as successful since the move to the new stadium. Arsene is clearly a great manager considering how much he has won but maybe he hasn't had the financial backing he needed to stay competitive? I think the biggest issue this season is it was clear that Nasri and Fab would both be leaving the club yet it took until the last day of the season to actually sign someone and even they seem like panic buys IMO
Aye, much we are not told about that side of matters But that was the point I was trying to make. The indecision, delays in decision-making, the seeming inability to motivate our players and reverse this tide that has been in existence since two EPL matches after the Carling Cup final. While it may be said that we are only into the 7th game of this season, our form dates back to the beginning of March. I feel this is a significant factor in where we find ourselves today and still, nothing is done about it. While the constraints on Arsene are one thing, there are still areas which he still has much influence, the training ground, dressing room and pitch. I appreciate that we are without Cesc or Nasri but nothing it seems occurs there to reverse our fortunes. Even when they were still part of the team, we only picked up 12 points from the final 11 matches from March to May. PS - I never paid much attention to Crouch before but having seen him in interviews over the past months which include past recordings, he seems like a person of good and sound character. As is Henry of course
Wenger is a million timers better than Redknapp. Anyone who says otherwise is not thinking. Wenger has just subbornly stuck to a doomed project. Even soo he's very unlucky not to have won the Champions League and a Carling Cup on what was basically a shoestring budget. (and finished in a champions league spot every single year) Redknapp failed to make the Champions league on a transfer budget that was roughly 3 times larger than what Wenger has spent in the same time. REDKNAPP WOULD NEVER HAVE GAINED A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOT ON A TINY TRANSFER BUDGET - LIKE WENGER HAS REPEATEDLY. (every year in fact) I think Arsenal could do with a change IF we could get a top class replacement like Hiddink, Ancellotti, Rijkarrd or Klopp.(even so wenger should then be moved upstairs)
