...to the percentage of prize money the jockey loses out of, if he fails to adhere to the rules?

Whilst i disagree that the same offence can cost one jockey around £500 (hughesy the other night) and another £52k, i hope the money is going to a good cause!
 
I'd imagine it goes to the BHA. Not that I agree with the rules anyway, but if they are using the rule then to enforce it, they have to make it the full prize money of the race, or in races like the champion stakes, every jockey in the field would be breaking the rules if they knew they only stood to lose £500 of a potential 52k win pot :biggrin:
 
I think that I am right in saying that the money levied from the jockeys (riding fees plus prize money percentages) goes to “good causes” (racing-related charities).

I note that Richard Hughes also got done by the BHA for failing to show up to ride his declared mounts on Friday and Saturday as the 48-hour declarations for Ascot meant that his name was already listed as the jockey because he did not quit until Thursday night.
 
I also want to know why the race result shouldn't be overturned, if horse A is smacked 6 times in the last furlong and horse B is smacked 5 times, keeping to the rules, and horse A wins by a nose. Then surely it should be argued that horse A wouldn't have won without the jockey breaking the whip rules. I'm not saying Cirrus Des Aigles wouldn't of won without the extra smack, because he was well on top at the finish, but there will be cases sooner or later, when a horse wins by a nose and his jockey has broken the rules.

Frankie at Ascot in the POW on Rewilding broke the old whip rules, and I don't believe he would have won that race without breaking the rules, so surely he has cheated, gained an unfair advantage, whatever you want to call it, to win that race. So surely he should have been disqualified, rather than just banned:biggrin:

What would these good causes be?

Do you think if they change the rules following the meeting with the BHA and PJA, those that have succumbed to the punishement will be reimbursed?

I mean if they scrap the 'last furlong limit', CS will quite rightly want his share of the winnings surely?
 
If i remember right Frankie's ride on Rewilding equated to one smack/hit every 2 strides...!!! or about every 18 yards i think... So Frankie would be banned for about 10 years for that...!!!
